Shopping for a new helmet for sledding and dirt biking.

Had a Thor quadrant. Was a good lid for a good price, only complaint was the mouth piece sat out to far from my face for my liking.

Leaning towards an HJC. What are the thoughts and expeirence with them? Or any other cheaper lid.

Yes I know a cheap lid for a cheap head....but I just can't drop the money on a shoie or even the high end fox, etc so that's why I am leaning HJC. Seem to be a quality helmet at a heck of a better price.

I finally scored a KLIM helmet on eBay for a great price. Have a like new 509 and HJC if you are interested. Both XXL.

I absolutely LOVE my 509 helmet. I've never owned a more comfortable helmet.

I'm not saying that the 509 helmet is bad, but with goggles (509 or Oakley) I felt like the helmet pushed down on my nose too much. I also didn't like that the chin strap was so short. I have to take my gloves off to fasten and remove. Helmet looks sweet though (all matte black).

Noted on the chin strap. I'll see about making our new inventory a bit longer.

We'll have 2 new styles out on the same shell and will have a couple new designs on an entirely new carbon shell. Stay tuned, the new designs are looking sharp!

Bought a Klim this past season and was very impressed with it. It's particular strength is in the venting, which is a real asset when it's warm out.

Go with whatever fits your head the best. I have had HJC's before, nothing wrong with them, but the sizing doesn't fit me very well. I use and Aria helmet that fits a heck of a lot better, and was priced really good at the time too.

Don't worry about spending lots of money. As long as the helmet is DOT rated, it will be fine. Try on a bunch of helmets and go with what fits the BEST ON YOUR HEAD. All heads are different, and most helmets are too....

Ya know, I have been thinking about getting a new helmet also. Tonight I was doing some browsing, I like the 509 helmet, currently have HJC. I also like the Klim helmet. While I was at extreme supply I was looking at AFX helmets, saw a couple I liked, then I noticed something. The AFX FX-17 helmet, looks to be the SAME helmet as the 509! Difference? Graphics, and price, weight, 3.22 for the 509, 3.42 for the afx. You can get one of the afx helmets for $85. Flat black for $75. Front venting all looks to be the same, as does the rear. Now, I dunno, maybe there is more to this coincidence. I love the sledding graphic theme on the 509 helmet, but not for an extra 100 bucks.

Just some food for thought.

Currently have a ToBe "Do Thrill". I like it a lot.

Cheek pads are tight. I like it.

509 is by far the best helmet i've bought. couldn't be happier. tried klim, but thought they extremely uncomfortable. seemed like they had little padding on the inside. but then again thats just my opinion.
