Shockwave?

Is the QC on the shockwave pi$$ poor or is mine screwed up?

The three ramps at no time ALL come in to contact with the adjustment ring at the same time.

One is always loose, so to speak, because it will not touch the adjustment ring and the clutch button at the same time.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

mine seems fine. Big Bull and Motelyone also have the shockwave with no issues so far. did you get a defective one?

There sure seems to be allot of mixed feelings about this thing there is allot of people that run these with out a problem and then others that have nothing but problems I was going to run one on my t nytro this year but cant make up my mined. Bobcat if you get this figured out let us know

I looked over the buttons to make sure they were right and I did have two that had a different shape, thanks to the dealer.

I put in three that were a close match and still had to crank it down to make contact.

Not happy with this situation. I will continue to play with it as time permits.

Are you doing the adjustment with the belt installed or removed?

I noticed when I adjusted mine it would not touch on any of the ramps, until I took it for a rip. The belt keeps the sheaves apart.

Just tossing out ideas...have you tried opening the clutch and letting it re-seat?

What I noticed with the belt in was that the effort of turning the helix in (clockwise) twisted the clutch open a little and let the belt drop in, keeping the clutch open and preventing the helix from seating.

Purple spring, 10 degrees.

I went to 20 degrees but it seemed to tight.

Wow only 10 degrees, I talked to Dustin at outlaw motorsports and he told me to run it at 110 degrees, one end of the spring in #2 and the other in #9. It was a bugger to get it twisted on but I got it. Havent had a chance to run it yet.

I am pretty sure it is a EPi purple AC spring he is refering to. They are offset if you compear them to a OEM Yamaha spring - that is why it's only twisted to 0-1. I use that spring on my Shockwave helix with good luck;)

I have noticed uneven wear on my buttons and I have not noticed much better performance over stock 47, I run the shockwave about the same 1 1/2 turns out, not convinced its better eihter.

I run the shockwave and don't have the buttons not touching issue.

Running stock RX-1 spring and 8FA-00 weights with 4.5gr steel rivits in heal and tips for a total of ~78 gr each weight. The secondary has pink spring twisted to 90 degrees. I run my shockwave on the RX-1 with Stage 1 MPI SC close to full out (still over rev the SC on hard pack) and adjust it about mid way for deep powder days.

It hits MPI's targeted 9800 climbing in powder no probs with this setting, but the trails and hard pack climbs cause me to have a runaway even with the shallow angle on the ramps.
