Shocks burning hot on Xp's

Yes, both XP's in our group had nylon shock covers and when we stopped I could smell a plastic burning odour. The front shocks,(one more than the other) were so hot that you could smell them, certainly too hot to keep your bare hand on them. Yes the trail was bumpy and we did remove the covers which resulted in just vey warm shocks. One sled's was on setting 3 and the other on 1 so spring tension did not seem to be a factor. No real problem but heads up to you guys with covers that they may wreck your shocks.:mad: Darn, I liked the look of those covers.

I have them ordered but not picked up. I wondered about heat. Seems every accessory I bought has issues...the bag falls apart on long woopie trails, the handguard died on first time I stuck and hand flew off bar and knocked the guard right off the mount. Should have a springie thing. I lost my gas can twice on whoopie trail. My skid plate fell off. I tell ya! Goose

shocks should not be getting that hot, something is wrong. I race and we monitor the temps on our shocks for fade, as the last few laps are a challenge on some tracks when the viscosity changes with the tempature. We are nit picking to get every bit of control out of them. The trail does pound the hell out of them but I monitored my XP going down some retardedly rough trails and they were barely warm. I'd be looking into it further to make sure nothing is failing.. PS I have shock covers..:beer;:beer;

It is impossible that me and a buddy are the only one's experiencing this? Please check for it the next time you ride.
