Hey, I did a search but did not find answeres to the questions I have....so....

I have a 07 Dragon and am thinking I need to replace the shocks. What is the difference between the WE's and the different Fox and Exit shocks available?

Are the Fox and Exit shocks that much better then the WE's? Or should I just get them rebuilt and call it good?

Walker Evans needles from Tri-City Performance or Fox Zero Pro's from Carls are a great upgrade. I'm personally not a fan of air shocks, coil overs offer much more spring choices (single, dual, and triple rates) and valving adjustments (16 position WE needles).
 
It really depends on the budget you are working with and your riding style.

I am more concerned with getting the best product for the lowest dollar, so not really a budget so to speak. If I find something I want, I will save what it takes to purchase it.

Like most, I have to ride some trails to get into and out of the good stuff, but more and more am boondocking to get to the good boondocking areas. I am 225 lbs and ride an 07 D7.
 
Fox Zero Pro or Ryde FX clicker in rear/rear is a great upgrade for the whoops and all around riding. Matching front arm shock as well. And either for the front end as well, Zero pro take offs from an M-series work, just have them shortened to 17" and they'll be very good. And I like my Fox Floats with Fett Bros canisters, lighter and just flat out work.
Lots of deals to be had in swap section as well as ebay and your local craigslist ads...
 
Ya, I have been looking and can see lots of different good deals. I am more concerned with getting a great shock set up.

Morsno...what are some advantages to having springs with multiple spring rates? Sorry if this is a dumb question...I do not know much about the mechanics of suspensions.

Smoother riding in the small stutter bumps while still maintaining ride control in the big bumps.

With all the knowledgeable rebuilders out there they can rebuild/revalve any type of shock to ride comfortably. Can't hardly go wrong with Fox or Ryde FX as they can be made to work great for any type of riding.
 
I am pretty happy with the WE that came on my sled. I doubt that they have ever been rebuilt so will most likely stick with them and either have them rebuilt or get the Fabcraft reservoirs added. I do not do big jumps or drops and our trails are usually in good shape. I am mostly off trail boondocking.

Different rates for different riding styles and conditions. Some guys who pull their sway-bar prefer a firmer single rate to keep the front from diving. I have a dual rate that provides a soft initial ride for small bumps and firmer as the spring compresses to handle harder hits. A triple rate gives three different spring rates for even more conditions. You can get all kinds of spring rates and different spring material (steel, TI, etc) for any coil-over type shock.
