Shock question

I replaced the crappy shocks on my 04 vertical escape with some ryde fx shocks off of an 04 vertical escape. Here's my question, I took it for a ride after mounting them and when I came back I noticed the rods that run parallel to the rear track shock were bent. Any theories on what is wrong? The only thing different that I did compared to the polaris parts diagram is I mounted the piggyback facing the tunnel instead of the track, but I don't believe that should matter.

Thanks
Justin

p.s the rear shock measures 16.5 eye to eye

Are you sure you got the suspension back together correctly and mounted in the right holes in the tunnel?

I didn't take the skid out so I'm sure it's in right. I flipped the shock over the way it's supposed to be and straightened out the rod things. We'll see if everything works better. Thanks guys.
