Shin bruises from XP

T
Every ride my right shin looks like a 1st grader beat the crap out of me. Never had a problem til I bought this sled. Any body else finding this or is it just me?

I have the same sled and I don't notice this however I do wear some MX shin/knee guards. If you are not wearing shin guards I highly recommend getting some. They can be a real leg and knee saver and if you get a good pair you won't even notice wearing them. They are not that expensive either, I think I paid 30 for my alipinestars ones. I don't ride any sleds or bikes without these now. One time slipping off the boards and dropping a knee cap on the side and you will never want to ride without them again.

What he said!!!

I couldn't have said it better, I don't think that I would leave a parking lot without putting mine on.

Ur not an oddball james. I don't have this problem either. I rented a nytro and a poo last year for a couple days and had way more trouble keepin my feet on the boards of those two than the doo.

I have a new XP and I haven't banged my shin yet. I had an 07 Summit and I banged my knees all the time on that one. I do have high boots that might protect against it though, but I don't recall ever hitting them on the boards yet.

I really don't need another excuse to 'test out' the sled, but you can never run out of excuses for the kitchen pass....

Never had that problem with my 07x or my 09 xp. I do wear klim pants with a pad over my shins built in, maybe try em. More comfortable then motorcross shin gaurds.:beer;

If you're fairly tall and ride aggressively, you.r shins may be hitting the upper plastic latch that holds the side panels in place. Install BRP knee pads. It seems to help

What kind of rider are you?

Maybe I am the odd ball but what are you hitting your shins on? I have an xp and have never had a problem hitting my shins.

I don't think its so that much of, WHAT your riding(XP, Dragon, M or Whatever!) as much as it is of HOW your riding! Generally, if the majority of your riding day involves SITTING then I would doubt if I would end up with bruises. I would consider myself an Aggressive Backcountry rider and from the start back in 2001, riding my 1994 1/2 Summit 670 aka The Green Anchor, I learned that a $22 piece of equipment was well worth its weight for the type of riding that I do.

Im 6' and smack my shin's on that part when Im jumpin or sidehill'n my 99 670. My risers make me stand straight up (which is good) and I hit my shins on the plastic molding. Gaurds sound like a good Ide'er.:p

I have a rev & always ride with six six one knee pads & chest protector with spine protection. A little bulkier but as you get older body parts don't seem to be able to take the abuse the used to.

I used to have the shin pads in my Klim pants, but I hated them. So I pulled them out. Much more comfortable. Plus the shin guards are much more protective, and I found I only noticed them when I banged them on something. But the real best part is they only cost pennies compared to the Klim pants!

I'm 6' 8" and i wear the Klim pants that have the 1/2" foam in the legs. They work great. You could add a thicker foam in there if you wanted.

Bburrap
I never sit down when I ride. We riding all over the steepest mountains in south east Idaho or mid western WY. I will admit i can carve the sled while sitting down but hill siding and climbing I have never had a problem with hitting my shins.

It may be the way I ride. The evidence could be that's it's always the same shin. Weird thing is I don't notice doing it until the day is over. I'd try the knee pads on my side panels but I have 2cool vents there. Going with the motocross kneepads I guess. I can't believe out of all the other sleds I've had this is the only one with this problem

Shin bruises

I started wearing shin/knee gaurds last year, a bit akward at first but now I feel very vunerable with out them, they do not inped riding what so ever and I don't even know I have them on now. I bruised my shin a few times, one time very bad and it took about a year to completely disappear. I ride aggresivley and horse around alot, for instance on rutted and trenched steep treed areas, so every now then then I pop off and recover and that's when it's happened to me. It's happen to me on 3 different types of sleds when I riding on the edge, my XP included. For what it's worth my height is 6'3".
