Setup snow performance

I have been hearing that sidehilling on more setup snow the Alpha likes to wash. Luckily I ride mostly light Rocky mountain snow. How setup are we talking about? Hard icy or is it the depth of snow that affects it. I try to be on edge all the time. Sure it's like any other sled learn the quirks as you go. Current sled an Axys 800. Snow check Alpha on the way.

Its not even setup snow that is an issue. If you know it is setup then they are easy to adjust to. In my opinion the issue arises when you are in soft snow and hit a hard spot. The sled reacts so quick you may not be able to keep up and save it. The track will likely drop and you may get tossed either highside off the sled or lowside down the hill on the sled.

Its kinda like riding a bike with a flat tire.... slow and steady. If you snap the throttle the back end will surf around faster then you can image. Slower ground speed and steady throttle you can keep it stuck to the hill fairly well.

It aint no axys in those conditions thats for sure.

100% agree! A enjoy everything about the Alpha, but this is the one issue that might make me switch back to a twin rail. I'll give it one more season, see if I can figure it out.

Well I guess the first rollercoaster ride won't be to much of a surprise then. Guess I gave up the best thing I liked about the Axys. Should be entertaining for my buddies.

Looking forward to riding the sled. Something new. Axys was getting a bit boring at certain times.

Slow speed side hills is where the washout was a problem for me. Go 15mph across the hill and not much of an issue. Even 8in of fresh on top of a medium crust can spin a 165 around quick, while ur buddy on a 155 pro is straight as an arrow. (Still riding in the neutral position while the Polaris riders are all wrong foot forward hanging way off the side)

Now, the ease of riding the Alpha makes up for the one shortfall.
