Setting up for Offtrail Powder

Does anyone know if setting up the rear is similar to my REV, in that the strap was set loose and the rear shock set firm? I'm guessing the suspensions are completely different. Don't care about trail manners, just interested in the best setup for offtrail.

Limiter strap all the way out, shock in lower position, .375/47* or .405 springs in rear.

Marv,
Thanks, "shock in lower position" are you refering to soft? I bought sled from friend who was larger and he replaced rear torsion? springs with heavier and put fox shocks on, if that puts a wrench in the works.

Asshauler,
Mostly boondocking, would difference would I need to do for climbing?

When climbing you want to keep the front end down. Letting out the limiters lowers ski pressure letting the front up come up easy. When you wheelie while climbing in deep snow you loose a lot of forward momentum and you wont climb as high.

For you, since your boondocking I would recommend moving the front skid shock to lowest postion and leave the limiter straps in stock position. Doing this will increase shock pressure so it wont collapse as much when you are on the sled, giving you less ski pressure.

Its not good to let out the limiters since it messes up the geometry for the suspension to work properly. It will also wear out ski tips on the rails and hyfax much faster.

I have been wondering about how to set up my suspension all year! i want to set it up for boondocking too. So losening the shock on the front skid will put less pressure on the ski's? so just losen it until it is snug enough to hold the spring in place? and what about the front shocks should they be lose or tight? and if so how much should i adjust them?

Thanks, that makes sense. Besides this sled being new to me, sleds in general are new to me. It is still across the street at my buddies house so I will check it out tonight. I may have another question once I get my eyes on it, if so I will take pics. thanks again.

Your welcome and good luck!

The upgraded setup will work for you as well. Lower front shock mounting position is what I was referring to. Good luck with it and enjoy.

Best all around position, with #1 being all the way out, and #3 sucking the rails up, is the 1 1/2 position. You have to poke new holes in the straps. You will see why this is the best, once you do it.
