Set up tips for those running Burandt Fox Float 3 Evol Shocks

I plan on running these shocks front and rear on my 2015 Pro. I wasn't sure where to start as far as chamber pressures so I contacted Chris and he sent me a setup sheet. Also, watch Skinz's Shock Therapy 4 video on YouTube. I watched it and it turns out they are running the same shocks as the Pro in the video and they give what pressures they are running. They are running their front end, but not sure if that would make a difference...it might because they use actual scales so the weight distribution might be different than a stock Pro. Either way, between the two it should help those who are running these shocks get a pretty good starting point. Hope this helps!!

For those that don't want to watch, here are the air pressures from the Skinz video:
Rear track shock--120 main/180 Evol
Front track shock--60
Front ski shocks--80 main/165 Evol (Jake does mention this is a pretty firm setup for spring conditions)

Sweet sled!!!!

The weight distribution of a stock set up sled is much different than what Jake does. With the Skinz front end the rear track shock and front track shock carry about the same amount of weight, if I remember right.

Stock sled from the factory, the front track shock carries the bulk of the weight.

If you can get your hands on scales. Mess with the pressures to see if you can get it to do the same. That's one thing nice about the floats, you can change quickly and easy. Worst case you can always go back to what Burandt recommends. I wish you lived close, I would love to mess with it.

Thanks!!! I kind of figured the Skinz sled would be a little different. My buddy has scales that I plan on using...It actually really interests me and I think it'd be fun this time of year to mess with to see how the weight is distributed. I thought I'd post because between the two it'd give some pretty good starting points for those running these shocks.

I wonder why they have the main/EVOL different on the RC2 and R for the front....

The spring and crossover would seem to be the same... the main chamber, rod and EVOL chamber are the same size.... HMM??

.

this is where I'm starting out... I just got these a couple weeks ago and it was 70 outside when I aired them up so the pressures are a little high to compensate for the temp drop when its time to ride...

this is on my 2015 RMK LE 155 and I'm probably 250 RTR and ride heights were measured with me on it. (stock was the WE clickers)

When using scales to adjust your shocks put one scale pad under each shock and then you need to be one the sled. The center track shock will go from almost no weight on it to almost all the rear weight on it.
I havent had my axys on the scales yet but am really hoping the front ski weights are much closer then what the pro was! Eric

Where are you taking you ride height measurements

Bottom edge of back corner of tunnel for the rear and bottom of bulkhead, right behind the lower a-arm for the front...

And I realized I did the measurement process wrong for the front, but I did it the same way for both stock and floats, so I'm sticking with those pressures for the 1st ride at least. (really the front sag should say about 1.5" rather than .5")

Thanks im just seeing where mine sits compared to others

Tdblakes. On you're rebound is #3 or#7 is that the number of clicks from hard or soft ?

What kind of scales are you using?

Just bringing this info over into this thread too...

65/125 in the fronts, clicker on 7
51 in center
150/175 rear, clicker on 12.

Did a lot or research last year and did this setting since first ride. No issues with bottoming. Set these at 40degrees in the garage. Didn't touch them all year. I'm over 250 dressed.

Just got my rear track shocks installed (Burandt FLOAT 3 EVOL R)...how do you adjust rebound on the rear track shock. I don't see a red adjuster knob, but there is a screw that takes a flat head screw driver. Is that it? The manual says to turn the red adjuster or use a small flat head screwdriver to turn the adjuster on the air sleeve body cap. I just want to be sure that's it. Can you feel the different clicks?

Thanks--Mike

Yep you got it, it's the flathead set screw... And yea you'll be able to feel the clicks.

Sag

What is the appropriate amount of sag for the front shocks? Our is not that important and go by pressure to achieve the desired ride. In the Skinz video I think he says 3/4" to 1". I set my fronts at 60/120 and noticed quite a bit more than 1" of sag. I'm afraid if put more air pressure in the main sleeve to get close to 1" of sag the ride will be to harsh...what's your guys opinion? Thanks!

did you measure the sag with the stock shocks before putting in the floats? do you have stock width a-arms?

I did not measure sag with stock shocks because they came on the sled when I bought it. However, I'm going to start over I think I messed up because I set pressures with the sled on the ground and after reading several places it's obviously best to do it with the sled off the ground....my mistake. I do have a buddy running the same setup, he did everything correctly by taking sled off the ground filling Evol's first then main chamber at 60 and his sag seemed right on. I'll report back what I find out.

Thanks again!
