I don't know the details of this bill, but I think the thought behind it is to give illegal aliens a Social Security NUMBER, this way they will pay taxes on the wages they make.

Heres a point.
When Arizona passed their illigal immigrants law the following happened.
School enrollment dropped by an average of 20% across the state, and by as much as 35% in some areas.
Half the walk in's at hospitals are to illigals who don't or won't pay their medical bills.

The list goes on and on. It cost this country BILLIONS to deal with illigals.
Putting their kids thru school, medical bills, medicaid, medicare, increased auto insurance, there is nothing that illigal immigration doesn't hurt.

You may consider it racism to demand the government enforce the laws.

I am not saying we should let anyone into this country but putting up a gazzillion dollar fence is not going to do anything. Getting citizenship is not cheap, really only those who are wealthy are the only ones that can afford to do it. They are the ones that are going to take "your jobs", because they are educated and capable of the jobs you and I want. The people that cannot afford to get their citizenship are doing the work that, most of us will not do. I don't know about you but I like buying strawberries for $2. If we deported all these "law breakers" and we were doing that work, we would be paying probably $10, hell $14 if it were a union job. I cannot and will not pay that. I do not think we should grant amnesty.

Check cities with a high hispanic population and the crime rates are through the roof compared to a city with a comparable population with a low hispanic population. Ah, but they are hurting people and families in the worst way.
If you are a roofer, you make 18 dollars an hour.
Here comes 2 illigals. They are willing to do your job for 8 dollars an hour each. You are fired, they are hired. Your whole family suffers.
Those 2 illigals get together with 4 other illigals and move into a house. That way they can pay their bills and send money home. The area they moved into now has to deal with the 6 cars, plus all their friends trying to park also.

Now, what do you do?

The legal workers have been displaced by the illigal workers. If you want work and don't want to or can't move, you will work at the lower wage or go without work.

When they did the amnesty in 86 they said they had to. They needed the workers to take up the crops and do the labor the americans didn't want to do. Guess what happened??

Good call on the snopes. I feel sorry for those that sent off letters to their reps/senators based on this information. Seems like what was stated is opposite of what really went on.

An argument was made about when most of the Europeans came over that they were legal immigrants. Anyone know what laws were around that could limit immigration standards. I seem to think that limits/restrictions on immigration is a recent thing. I mean soc numbers have only been around since the late 1930's.

I would think this has more to do with economic state that race. I am sure those towns you mentioned have a large portion of people in the lower class, who also happen to be Hispanic. I think this problem would be the same if another race was at the bottom of the economic totem pole.

Ruffryder hit it on the head. Sure Greeley does have a high crime rate, but that is because they mismanaged a gang problem. Denver also has a high Hispanic population, but their crime rate is below average.

The US should enact a law that says that any illeagal alien that is caught will NEVER be granted citizenship in the US, NOR will any member of their immediate family. Peresonally I think the ougt to fine any business similar to an insider trading and by this I mean the whichever is greater. Government assists busnessess in their background checks (since many businesses cant afford it), or help fund a background check if they want to keep private firms doing it. And if you get caught employing an illegal the fine should be like insider trading. $250,000 fine or $50,000 per illegal whichever is greater and possible jail time. Then when all the jobs dry up and they head back to mehico, we don't have to worry about a fence.
