Just got back from 2 days riding in awesome fresh powder, 3 ft or so over quite a good base. Had a really good representation from all brands, {except stock yammi's) riders all pretty equal skills but a lot of shapes and size differences. Didn't do a lot of big climbing, but enough for everyone to make a fair assessment of the comparisons. Lots of deep fluffy creeks and meadows and lots of tree riding in small hills.
Sorry but ; same results, general concensus from almost all present (even the hardcore Doo guys) the 09 M8 is the real deal. Both M8's were 163, one stock, 1 with y-pipe and 4 inch intake. Not much evident difference between those 2 but the non-stock maybe was stronger by a wee bit on the longer pulls and runs. Certainly no runaway winners but the XP's and M8's were neck and neck pretty much everywhere, both of them most often outdoing the 3 Revs (07's) and D8's. M8's used a bit more fuel than the others, but minimal difference. The XP's with the stock exhaust seemed like ,head to head with the same machine with a can, stock usually prevailed. That was interesting to all. Maybe would be different on 2 other days, but the 2 D8's with us certainly didn't shine in comparison to the rest, maybe equal in most cases to the Rev's, ran great but seemed to trench deeper and not able to get back on plane after a big backshift, seemed like once the rpm's were lost, trenching just got worse. Suggestions were the track is the reason, hard to know though. Great fun foreveryone.
And No, I don't ride an M8. I was just impressed by them.
