SEELEY LAKE

Yeah it was awesome and deep. Was stable snow where we were. I guess we weren't in the really steep stuff either. So are the 'bowls' on the east side?

Somebody needs to head up by the lakes tomorrow and take some pics/video, its gonna be epic, epic, epic. Really wishing I was out there right now.

I've got pictures from down on Elsina...if this isn't a hint as to what the ledges would look like....IT's aways deeper up there as those hills hold the clouds really well.

Let me get them downloaded from the camera.

Seeley 12/28/2014

This is on the warming hut hill ......... add another 14-18 inches at Elsina and unless you had turbo'd, nitrous'd, supercharge'd, or a school bus yellow t3-174 you weren't making it to the terraces and Lake Dina. A group of turbo sleds did make it back there and described the snow as handlebar deep.

I'll be back in there tomorrow.
A bunch of buddies were in there today.

All four were buried. Two extricated themselves and searched out the other two.
They found the third one conscious. The fourth regained consciousness after 10-15 minutes.

The rode a couple miles out to the warming hut where S&R met them and assessed. Sent them on their way.

Looks like your article says the exact same thing.

We were there, close to them and they were at the warming hut when we came out (we didn't stop) but we never new of the avy until S&R passed us on their way in and told us.

oh, good

Man wish I was up there today, cold temps are easy to endure when the sky is blue and the fluff is plentiful..... BUT, it is tempting to venture into those places u know u shouldn't be..... Over my 30 years of riding, I've learned to listen to that little voice in the back of my head.....,,, just have to phase out the other ones:der::face-icon-small-con

Be wary out there boys........

Well, Cooke was a gas, Now its time for Seeley Lake. First time here and it looks like a beautiful place. Riding tomorrow.:face-icon-small-hap

Town is 4200.

Riding gets up to 7500ish at the most.

Anybody ride today? I am wondering if it got warm enough to rain up top. Helena got rain and got a crust on top of the fresh snow. Wondering if I go on Wed. if the snow will be worth it. I know it was good over the weekend.
Any help would be appreciated.

It rained up there...but the snow is DEEP and heavy on top.

EXTREME avy conditions. Level 5.

Just so you know, Level 3 means "human caused are likely". Level 5 means stay in the meadows.

We did a short ride today out to the warming hut zone.

There's a pretty good crust that has formed since the last storm. It's thick enough to fight you.

It either needs to warm up and soften or snow enough to bury it.

The new warming hut is sweet! Nice work Driftriders!
