Second Ammendment in Court Today

The time to buy was already. Either way, this thing scares me. The libs are hard at work robbing us of our rights already. If this nation totaly looses it's mind and vote obama in, we are screwed. Not just guns but they plan on baning bulk ammo too. Get it while you can:mad:

Watching the news this morning, not sure who the guy was being interviewed but he said, ïf the gun ban is lifted in DC can you imagine how many more people would have guns?" Yeah many more people that are not crooks. Maybe crime would go down if the bad guys knew someone might shoot back.

I wonder too.

I dont know, some 18 year old gang member might be pretty determined to do what hes gonna do, even if the person could be carrying gun.....just a though. Only thing that i dont like about this stuff is that you guys know that guns are dangerous and to be treated with respect, alot of people in DC dont....

from a guy who lives there, you should know that a handgun ban is not going to stop gang bangers from getting their hands on the weapons. and your right, they will rob stores or people whether the victims have weapons or not.
The guns are already in the wrong hands and the ban is doing nothing to prevent it (according to the incredible crime rates and murder rates posted about DC)

but anyways what does that have to do with my constitutional right to live in the city of DC and own a weapon(handgun)? Why does DC think they are above the constitution? Are their neighborhoods and gangs worse than the ones in Camden or Compton? It is my opinion that if this ban is left to stand, it will start popping up all over the nation, it opens Pandora's box in a sense and you cannot tell me that doesn't frighten you...

Im not trying to get this heated, and i own guns as well guys so i understand where your coming from, but in a place like DC the gun ban should not be lifted IMO. You guys are smart people who understand how dangerous they are, 18 year old gang memebers in the city dont. A kid whos lived in the rough parts of the city his whole life is not gonna change his mind about robbing someone if theres a chance that person is carrying a gun....
Im not taking political sides here, i just think that in a place like DC somekind of a gun restriction law needs to be in act, or they will be in the WRONG hands.

you know me all too well for a debate phatyy:);)

and as for your right to live in DC and carry i gun, i completley agree. I also agree that yes, a handgun ban does nothing to stop gangmemebers from getting deadly weapons. I think it should be lifted as well, as many times in the city i would much like to have my gun on me. I think that people like you and many other snowesters should never be denied the right to carry a gun. Like i previously stated, Im for the ban to be lifted, but as for it making criminals think twice, that remains to be seen. And it does scare me to think at one point this could get out of hand and everyday Americans as ourselves will be stripped of rights.

Something thats sorta of interest in this topic is i recently got to hang with some fellas who were editing speaking points for KBH (kay bailey hutchinson) to speak against the gun ban....very interesting points on there

as long as we keep religion out of it right? :D

could you share some of those points from KBH?

i think the issue runs deeper that just weapons.
America is slowly being stripped of its right to govern itself, the days of putting a policy out and expecting people to accept the nature of the law are over.
For me the dying day was when Montana reversed the "reasonable and prudent speed limit" Because people were not governing themselves in a reasonable and prudent way, the limit was changed to a fixed number.

It is my opinion that this is whats going to happen with weapons. 95% of weapon owners govern themselves appropriately, but the others are making cause to change abstract policies into rigid law... its happening far to often in America today

I can see that happening with weapons also. In a way, it goes back to snowmobiling. Do some sledders act like *******s and ride in closed areas? yes. Do all of us? not even close.

the list of points was over two months ago, mabye we can find a recording on c-span?;) It included the obvious, breaking the second amendment and that stuff. But it also had statistics of illegal weapons being smuggled in(that they knew of), and how citys with bans enacted had really seen no signifigant change in crime rate. the point of focusing on the stopping crime at the root rather than worrying about everyday citizens being armed... And like many of you are saying, she was going for the point of "if they are gonna have them anyway, why shouldnt we?". Overall i remember it being well put together.
Time will tell if it was good enough eh?:(

Sorry that was pretty vague, but at the time i had alot if interest in the food in front of me at the end of the day....;)

anyways.. I would honestly love for the gov't to come to my house and try to take all of my guns..... haha.. they better have lots of ammo.. and once they kill me.. a couple semi's.. :D:D:D

Here in NM you are not required to register firearms So therefore I own None! or at least that what the fed thinks anyway!

I listened to the verbal arguments this morning on CSPAN. The attourney arguing for the handgun ban did not do very well. You could tell that he was not prepared for some of the questions. The two attourneys arguing for the repealment of the handgun ban did quit better. How this plays out, we will not know until June sometime.

You know, the whole arguement boils down to one thing.
It is something that was lost back in the 70's and has been forced aside since then.
It is the root of the problem with our legal system, moral system and affects every aspect of our lifes. It is something that USED to be taken for granted that people would do it. Now, thru the prudent use of shister judges and lawyers and the liberals strangle hold on the media, they have convinced everyone we no longer need.
If we could force people to do it again, we could solve most of the problems in this country.

It's called personal responsibility.
Actions have consequences.
Break the law and you will pay the price.
You can't blame it on anyone other than yourself.
If we could somehow get people back to this simple concept, just think of all the things it would solve.

I don't understand it police use a side arm as a personal defense tool, why can't the public be open to the same option. I agree that in some cases it won't make the criminal think otherwise, a dark alley, he has the tactical advantage, but this crap about 3 people robbing a bank full of hostages, I'd have to think that some time, they aren't going to notice me drawing a firearm, and now my right to carry a firearm is going to level the playing field, especially if I'm not the only one packing! "God created man, Samuel Colt made them equal."

If I'm not allowed to carry a gun, does the state, city, police, and the business owner of the business I'm in, take responsibility for my safety? I live 30 minutes from town, and guess what, it's a 30 minute response time to get a cop out here, if they will even come.

You don't have to shoot every crook, you just need to kill 5% of them, these are repeat offenders mostly, and they will run out of time eventually. Eventually, we might "select" this trait out of the gene pool. :)

This is off the exact subject, but it is a good example of how things are going and why we do not want gun control. True or not I can not say, but the quantity of bacon in this country is increasing every day.

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some Exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him, he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.
He looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, ' Do you know how to catch wild pigs?' The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.
The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms- just a little at a time. One should always remember 'There is no such thing as a free Lunch!' Also, 'You can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself. Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably ignore this story, but God help you when the gate slams shut.

Sorry I skipped most of the long post. Gun laws work as well as drug laws. The bad guys will have them and the good guys wont...Im bad;)

Does one need the services of some folks in long robes with fancy titles to read the second amendment and interpret it for the commoners? I believe that I understand my rights and shall continue to exercise them regardless of what they think in DC.
