Seat Concepts Matryx Seat

Just picked up a Seat Concepts Matryx Seat and thought I would put up some info if anyone else is looking to possible change out seats.

The Seat Concepts seat for the Matryx is narrower, shorter and the material is definitely more aggressive. The foam used also seems a little stiffer / denser I would say and does not seem to collapse as much. Sitting on the two you can definitely tell the difference but.....like most, we don't tend to sit too much. I was basically looking for the lower and narrower feel as I usually have my seats trimmed down and re-done. This time I opted for one of these and I think it turned out pretty good.

As far as width wise, the SC seat is about 8.25" and the stock seat at it's widest point is about 9.5"

With regard to height, the SC seat sits about 1.2" shorter then a stock.

I also weighed the two seats but not much difference there with the SC seat coming in at 3.4 pounds and the stock seat coming in at 3.8 pounds.

Attached are some pics showing the difference between the two and of course a link the Seat Concepts.

Do you run rough trails to get to your riding zones. Curious as I miss my axys seat when I switched to Matryx for trails in and out.

While we try to avoid trails all together, it's inevitable we ride trails and of course the bombed out ones at times!

The Seat Concepts seat is definitely more "firm" then a stock seat, so if your looking for more comfort I would not go this route. It's not bad but it's definitely more firm and obviously a tick narrower. Even on the trails, I tend to find my self standing more and when on the trails that are in really tough shape then there is no way I'm sitting, so finding a more "comfortable" wasn't a factor as I was looking for more function.

The lower height and slightly narrower profile is nice for transitions from side to side, especially when you start getting tired. I tend to notice that I don't catch the tip of my boot going from side to side at the end of the day, which means hopefully avoiding a mistake.

All in all it should be nice upgrade and mimics what I had typically done to several of my previous seats in the past.

Hope that helps.

I’ve been thinking of getting this for my kid. He just turned 11 on a matryx and this could make it easier for him to hop side to side.

That makes sense, my seat is cut up at the back corners I’m guessing from my boots catching it.

You are probably correct! I can tell you that the seat cover on the SC Seat is definitely more "rugged" and will stand up to more abuse then a stock seat cover.
