Some killer riding on sunday with denverR1 & fcr112.

Alex seemed to forget a few laws of gravity, got lucky that his sled came out in one piece!

Didn't pull the camera out much but got a few decent pics.

It's a shame the season is about over, only about 2 months left!!!

landing

I would pay money to see fcr112's landing on that big one..... "Sled! Sled! Sled!...." Great snow!

vacation's over

Sucks that my vacation is over and I go back to Mon, Tues and Wed. off. If you guys ever get one of those days let me know. That goes for anyone else too.

I can do weds, I'm just doing regular work mon & tues from now on.

I'll get a sequence put together for Alex's "no hander landing" jump!!

I've got to pretend I accomplished something on wed, but I can probably ride by 10:30 or so.

:oYeah boys,
Very good times. Thanks for the help with the sled, that sonofa***** seemed to do a little better without me on it Sunday. Pretty slippery for some reason? I have to say it is pretty cool passing guys with their boats and jet skis on the way to go sledding. Now I have to go study the laws of gravity and its application when trying to land a sled...

Got stuck up in boat today, so I've got to drop some stuff in silverthorne, then head home. Don't think Brian is dumb enough to lend me that sled again, so I gotta fix my snopro. This wed is probably out, but next might work for me (afternoon)

edit, here's the sequence, take a look at frame 7, look ma, no hands!!! (he's been working on that trick for a while, well done!!)

wed

ok, sounds good. He probably wouldn't let you use his sled for sure if you posted pics of that 100 foot cornice drop where you lost the sled and it sidewalled that huge rock! Good thinking not posting that!!!

I never knew you could melt the hood back together like that with a soldering gun, he'll probably never notice those cracks either....

Thanks for the no hander sequence. That jump really did come together well:rolleyes: all I can say is that the hard work earlier in the day rolling it down the rocks and eating the bars must have perfectly aligned my senses.:face-icon-small-con Still soooo much fun though. Nothing like re-living the glory online with the nation of sno-westers, you guys are the greatest! Backcountry and R1, Must... get... photos... of you guys... eating it to share with the world... muh hu hu ah aha hah ahaha haha haha! (Dr. Evil Laughter)

How bout the aftermath, good enough for you???

You guys should have gotten some pics of me laying on the ground groaning like a panzy that day! (I hope you won't get a chance to take those shots again!)

Don't get me wrong I don't ever want to see anyone get hurt, not even Backcountry! But we take some hits. That tree incident has a few special circumstances that kinda rule it out...

I think being under your own power. AND
You gotta single handedly make a sweet move (ie the "no hander") and somebody gets the photos to post!

Now if we were to have a picture of you actually hitting the tree;)

Ah, good times...

landings

Ya know Alex, I don't know what the big deal is with your crazy landing? I'm told I land on the back end all the time. I just don't try and show off doing the no hands trick afterward. I do enjoy slamming my helmet into the handlebars though. I always thought my headaches on the drive home were from the altitude.
ps- any soreness on Monday?

Not sore at all, I felt great, 100%.....like someone beat the piss outta me!
Yeah your right, I should just stop trying to do all those superstylish trendy landings and stick with the head bangers. Or maybe, just maybe you should try landing on the back end with no hands too, what do you think, could be pretty awesome, we could take some photos?
I thought your headaches were due to the overwhelming talent of the people you ride with :face-icon-small-dis ah-hem, yeah riiiiiight

Seriously though, it could be the SkiDoo exhaust, I heard those things do that.:D

AAAAAHHHHHHH I wanna go play in the snow!

Who's riding memorial day? I'm gonna be back in denver (from annapolis) sunday evening...

Snow Depth - Crested Butte

We've had a few days of very warm temps, and the rivers are raging.
However, here is a picture of some land we cleared with a SnowCat a while back. If you look carefully you'll see a 9' avalanche probe stuck in the wall of snow snowing about 7' 5" of standing base. Picture taken May 19th.

Where to go.....

I'm trying to make my mind up on where to sled this Saturday. I should 3 to 4 in the group. Hopefully this little storm will make for softer slush up high.

I checked yesterday and Corona is still accessible.
I'm guessing anything at rabbit ears would be available just the creeks might get interesting. Any one heard if Tower is accessible from Grizzly Creek Trailhead?
Maybe American Lakes...
Nice to have choices in late May.
