I usually dont bother washing it, but have done it in the past. Last new belt I put on, I just broke it in the way you would normally warm up the sled.... moderate-varied throttle for the first 10 minutes and then ride it as you will. I haven't had any issues.:beer;

throw it in your dishwasher and run it a full cycle with the water heat on

He is not joking. That is the best thing to do. If no dishwaher at home, or you can't sneek it by the wife, HOT soapy water (dawn dishsoap) and a scrub brush. Then fisrt ride, put it on at home and run it up the trail to the deep. Don't go straight into the deep if you can help it. The wash makes all the difference in the world.

I always was and scrub with brush,at two hundred plus for a belt I'll do anything to get a couple of extra miles,everything but go easy on it that is

well

my last 180 buck belt on my m1000 went like this, no wash and straight to 30 inches of washington concrete in the steep for 4 days 200 miles later works and looks good some times actually most times thats how it goes with no prob

I wash my belt with soap and hot water and scrub brush. I install the belt at the top of the hill at the end of the day and ride down from the cabin (25 miles) belt lasts about 1500 miles not KM and I only change it because I feel it is time. they show no wear at 1500 miles but better to be safe than blow a belt and risk engine damage. oh and this is on my 900 with the 111 belt! just my 2 cents

then drive it like you stold it!

wow i never would have guessed hot soapy water ill try it . dose it matter that i run the napa gates kevlar belt?

thanks alot for the quik replies

Joe

The hot water wash it to remove the mold release compound that is used in manufacturing. If left on it may cause some slip and belt glazing which will effect overall life and contribute to dirty clutches. Worth doing, it's free.
