pretty lousy thing to say. if you want to talk sh!t about another hockey player, talk sh!t about his playing abilities-not his personal life. now with that being said,.....i wouldn't turn down any of his "sloppy seconds".
It's not just what he said. It's the fact that it's him and he has such a long list of ridiculous actions that it has to be dealt with. Not to mention the way he parlayed the media into a little scrum, asked to make sure that the cameras were running, waited for the lights to turn on, started with a little normal chat and then jumped into the sloppy seconds rant. Even his team mates think he's a retard and that's rare. Most times, the team will back the guy up. No one is running to this guy's corner.

I think the suspension also had to do with getting Avery off the ice so he didn't have to face Dion's bone crushing hit that was bound to happen, it would have been a pretty different game is my guess if Avery played, so I look at it more as a pre-emptive strike by the NHL as well.
Avery has no place in the game in my opinion, pests are fine, heck Burrows is my favorite player

Well said Strugis, I dont see the big deal. He gets a perm suspension, while guys in the NFL rape, shoot, rob and only get a few games. Big deal.

There is no doubt that Phaneuf is a tough guy, but Avery got into his head and that's what he wanted to do. What's worse for the 2 teams, Avery off the ice, or Phaneuf off the ice for 5 minutes? He made an azzhat of himself by talking about someone very disparagingly, who has nothing to do with the game of hockey..... and his comments were made to a TV camera, not on the ice. I don't know about where you live, but this stuff is followed by 9 and 10 year old KIDS where I live.
How do you figure Avery did his job? -- he's a good, skilled player and he got suspended by the league..... and Dallas isn't doing **** this year. This also means no pay per game. His contract is $3.8M/season.....the cost of this ordeal is $47,000+ per game. LMAO.... what a moron. I hope he gets 20 games.

You're absolutely right (and I played compet. hockey) this is tame trash talk.
But you can't talk about a 3rd. person who has nothing to do with the game to a camera in your own dressing room.
FYI - When Avery was with the Kings, they made him dress in a separate room because he was too much of a distraction.
Dallas is at the point now where the management and owner are wondering if there's something mentally wrong with this guy. I'm guessing he may have played his last game with them, and maybe even in the league. The Stars even canceled their morning skate in Edmonton yesterday morning to avoid the media circus.
