Seal exhaust outlet with aftermarket can???

I went ahead and bought a Skinz Super Q can knowing that they didn't come with a plate to block off the exhaust outlet and now I am wondering what the easiest way to seal off the outlet is. Surely someone has done this---there's a big enough gap left to throw a cat through.....don't want powder and exhaust gas coming back under the hood.

same problem with a jaws can, i tried making a plate for mine and riviting it to the exhaust outlet in the belly pan but it started to scrape the side of my can up from viberating against it! if i woulda left it it woulda cut a hole in my can! sooo im looking for ideas 2! i hurd there was an update that cat puts a rubber boot in there but i think that was a myth cause my dealership had no idea what i was talking about!

ok yea i hurd that 2 but i also hurd that they have an update for 07 08 09 cause aparently guys are burning down there motors from this exhaust bog!

Oh yeah, maybe a 2010 exhaust outlet could be used. I bet the stock can is a rectangular outlet, while the aftermarket cans are round---so the seal won't be tight, but better than nothing.

Of course the 2010 part diagram isn't available, but judging by the price change from 09 to 2010, it must include the rubber.
2009 1612-861 $20.39
2010 2612-008 $32.72

These pics are from other posts.....first pic is a 2009 with something shoved around the can outlet. The other photos are 2010 showing the orange rubber seal. Can someone take a better picture of a 2010 around the seal??

Still doesn't seal good on the 2010 when you install an aftermarket can, at least with some. The rubber seal is there but there is still a gap between the seal and the outlet of the aftermarket. Might not be like it on all of them but it is that way with my Jaws can.

Just talked to my dealer today about this on my 08 and he didnt know what to use.... He was going to work on it tomorrow

Good day. I am using the MBRP can and had the dealership install the updated exhaust seal. I then fabbed a second seal and attached it to the factory seal with nylon ties and sealed it with high temp silicone. Not pretty but does the trick.:beer;

I made a cut to fit out of aluminum flashing, and riveted it to the exhaust outlet. I cut it a hair big for around the Jaws can and sealed the small gap with black RTV. It worked great in Cooke two days ago. It doesn't weigh anything, looks shiny (like heat tape) and doesn't rub on the pipe.

thats a good idea , what did you use for the second seal tho ?

I used adheasive heat tape like they use for duct work and taped around my SLP silencer and it seems to be working pretty good.

I've never heard of a motor burning down because of exhaust bog, can you fill me in on this issue? I put an MBRP in my '09 HCR (that has yet to be ridden) and I don't like the gap either, but if it doesn't hurt anything I'll probably just leave it.

i dont understand how it can happen! but i read it on a post on here but i can no longer find it? so i dont know how true it is but thats what it said, ill look somemore for it, it talked about recalls and updates!
