Anyone know if the road still has snow down by the Banks/Lowman highway? Probably been like summer time and raining down there.

It did last Friday but I'm guessing that there will be some dirt before the trees.

Thanks John. I figured you have been up there recently.....I haven't been that way this year at all since it turned spring time on us.

Went up yesterday and had a great ride IN THE SUNSHINE! Snow is thin at the highway but we rode from there, we weren't feeling adventurous enough to take the truck up. Pretty icy to the campground and packed trail to the summit. Probe showed 4' near the weather station over by the SM lookout. The cornice just before the weather station is going to drop soon. BIG crack (we got a pic but I'm still waiting to get them from my buddy) about 6-10' from the edge. Stay well away from that thing when the new snow falls this weekend or you may find yourself in BIG trouble. Nice and soft in the trees and we found a few untouched areas. Great day!

Love that area...hate that road! Who on earth was the crazy mofo that first layed a cut across that lowest side hill? I think I've towed a trailer up and down that bugger fifty times and you darn near want to make the passengers get out and walk even in the summer!

Mindy how was your Stanley trip?

LOL - I don't know who that guy was but he must have balls the size of watermelons.

We didn't make it to Stanley...the fun run was that weekend so we ended up meeting up with some folks on the ride and hanging at the cabin. We were going to go up last weekend too and ended up with Ron White tix and some family in town. Crossing my fingers now though...waiting for this weekends storm to dump some more snow and then we'll be utilizing all that great new parking near the Southfork Lodge!!

BTW...my better boards are unbelievable. You rock Rob.

John,
Is that the cornice on the ridge before the weather station down south about 1/2 mile ?
Damn ! I have never seen that. If its the same one I jump it all the time.
It never has much of a over hang. How would ya know about that after ya got another foot of snow !

Sorry, I must have misunderstood you. I thought you said you JUMPED it? Holy crap! I will try to dig up a pic of it from another angle. I have never seen tracks up or down this cornice. It is about 1/2 mile south of the weather station. Drops down into never-never land...If you are jumping this one I really want to go riding with you! :D

Here it is from another angle. It's not quite that big right now though.

WOW! I could not see that pic at work but it sure looks like the one. We need to hook up so you can show me how to get out of the hole that drops into. Impressive. Send me your e-mail and I'll send you some pics of the cabin (with improvments :D ) on Daggett.

The cornice you are jumping off of faces East on a long fairly flat ridge if am looking at it correct. We have jumped off of that one for many years also. I think the one in the pic is the big one that faces north that is closer to Scott Mtn lookout. No jumping off of that one...too many trees in the landing zone.
