Schreibers

Martin Ridge (3250') is saying they have 27" of snow (info from NCRS SNOTEL website...last year we went to Schreiber's when Martin had 23 and it was a little tough to get into, but once you got high enough it was awesome, we're heading up Friday.

Really, you rode in the meadow with 23" when you officially need 24" and the forest service never opened it either. Think about the consequences for everyone when you do stupid things. We go through the sh#t show every year, wait until there is ample snow so you don't screw it up for everyone.

We actually saw the ranger up there and spoke with him about how everything looked (he was unloading his sled). He didn't tell us to leave and went for a little ride himself. I know the rules, I was just letting the person who asked about Schreibers know that the Marten Ridge SNOTEL site might be useful in his/her decision to head up there. That SNOTEL location isn't on Schreibers, so it's a reference only.

Mt baker ski area is reporting 37" at 3.5k, and 60"+ at 5k after the rain so it's looking pretty good.

Marten ridge is showing 18" right now and a better judge of snow at the meadows, Elbow lake snotel is showing 9". This was the problem we had last year, we get snow at elavation but not the snow level is not low enough to get the 24" at the meadows. But it's still early.

Flew up there today and there is definitely not enough snow to sled yet. The snow felt like it had been rained on pretty hard and then froze (crusty on top with powder underneath). No where near enough yet, but it's early as stated so let's hope we get another storm where the temperature stays down. BTW, went over to Bearpaw as well and saw 2 sledders up there, but they didn't look like they were having much fun and judging from their tracks the snow looked equally as bad (not setup very well). Wasn't able to land there unfortunately.
