school me on 2011+ Ford diesel pickups

Ford's are funny to me. Never been a fan of them. They look freakin good, pull good but I feel think they drive like a tank. Seems to me if you baby them they fall apart. If you drive the Sh&* out of them they won't die. They'll last longer. Call me crazy but they're a lot like the old Case tractors. never liked them but can't get rig of em cuz the last to long

I have a 2011 f250, CC, SB, and 3.31 gear. I was a little worried about purchasing the 3.31 at first. Now with 50,000 miles, I am so happy with my decision. I use the truck for work and daily driver. Pull my 20' work trailer daily and my 24' v-nose on lotsa weekends out west. The motor and tranny are very impressive.

At 43k I had a seal go out on the water pump, and just last week had a NOX Sensor go out.

Purchased the H&S Mini Max, 5" MBRP Exhaust, EGR Delete, And Cold Air Intake back in December but have yet to install it. Thinking about installing it on Friday. I am going to run a stock tune, but didnt want any of the emissions on the truck after warranty is out. Will keep ya posted on what I think with no emissions.

My wife bought me a Black 2012 F350 Lariat 6.7 for Christmas.:face-icon-small-coo
Traded my '06 6.0 SD because she said it was too loud and didn't like the color.

The '12 is a very nice truck. 20+ MPG under 60 mph on the highway.
17 MPG back and forth to work.
During camping season I'll be pulling a 29' fifth wheel and a my 4 place trailer full of ATV's. 21K gross weight.

I've been told by a friend with the same truck as mine that it has the same or better power than the 7.3's.

6.7 has far more power than the 7.3 (time will tell if as reliable).

The 6.0 with all the mods (EGR delete, tuner, aftermarket studs, exhaust) is not the same engine as the stock 6.0. You would find yourseld checking under the hood to confirm it is the same engine. It is an excellent engine with the changes. It is fun to drive, smooth, fast, little edgy with the noise but still like my 6.7 better for towing.

Deleted my truck on thursday. The mini maxx is very easy to install along with the cold air intake. EGR is a little tougher. The exhaust is pretty easy but the DPF and CAT are about 5' long and gotta wiegh about 80#s. Before delete, truck would only make 20# of boost and still pull like a train, now with deleted and in stock form it makes 28#. You definetely can tell she breathes alot better. I have only driven it 2 days so far and will tell more when I pull my 24' enclosed out west on friday(cant wait to see how it acts). So far so good. Loved the truck before but didnt want any emission issues down the road.

You're lucky you got one of those delete tuners while you still can.

I'm going to guess that your increased boost is because you're running the tuner on a higher HP setting. You aren't going to gain 8# of boost because of the mods you did if you didn't change the tune.

Did you do the egr delete? I put my minimaxx on and am gonna change out the exhaust tomorrow.

I was going to just unplug the egr and leave it in place until it's a little warmer, because like you said it looks like a HUGE job.

If I leave mine installed with the dpf delete will it tear anything up?

Nope. Stock tune with a tranny tune. Called H&S and the higher Boost numbers are due to no CAT and DPF, So they say. Havent even changed the HP setting on the tuner yet. IMO, no need to. Was very happy with the power before delete but just didnt want emissions.

I deleted mine. You have to drain both resevoirs down a couple gallons each. Then just follow the instructions and was not bad. took me a few hours along with some 12oz curls.

Once you set your mini on DPF not present you have to atleast unplug the EGR and the butterfly valve. Otherwise it says it can damage those parts.

Yeah I was gonna unplug those as well, just didn't know if the system would be damaged if I left it installed, my truck doesn't fit in my garage and it's freaking cold outside. :face-icon-small-sho

I'm glad you said you don't need to drain it all the way also, looked in the manual and was calculating having to put over 10 gallons in the two systems to refill it. :jaw:

Have you put any miles on since deleting? I am curious how your mileage is empty and towing. Also curious if it got any louder going down the road. I really like how quiet my 2011 is, but was thinking of deleting after my warranty is up.
