Parents, you are not your child's friend, you are their parent. If you don't understand the difference, please find someone you trust that does understand and have them explain it to you.

I just went over this with my girlfrind in regards to her parenting of her 15 yr old son. He whined when I told him that there was no smoking on my deck and wanted to swear and threaten to kill me. (after i crushed his pack of cigarettes when he refused to cease the behavior and stated that he will smoke wherever he wishes.) She wined about it and I mlet her know that the only reason that he was still standing was because he was not one of my sons and that i will not extend that courtesy more than once. She protested a bit more and i told her that it goes against my grain to alow kids to smoke, drink or do drugs, that I won't live like that and that if she does not want to be a parent then she knows where the door is..........................
