That's really something to look out for right now especially in creek drainages where the snow would pile up in the bottom. Ride safe and with friends .

Ken....

Wow that is crazy opens your eyes to safety even if your not a chute climber you still need avy gear

id say unless you live in the prairies you should DEFINITLY have avy gear, i had a very similar expierence to this vid yesterday, but i held my sidehill and pinned it and managed to get out before it got too crazy. not sure if he got bucked off or what, but letting my sled go would be the last thing i did in a situation like that, glad everyone was ok!!!!

Always know conditions and travel extremely safe through avi terrain-all terrain at this point. I only have my Avi-1 Cert but it has raised my knowledge and safety when riding in the backcountry. Have fun and ride safe!

Near Cameron Pass, what road is that on?

Long Draw resevoir !
We rode in from gould today. rode towards silverton
the Snow would try to slide on the flats.
I had 50' diameter circles breaking under me out in the flats.
And is worse in the trees!
three feet of ball bearings for a base with two feet of fresh.
Watch your arses out there! Have Fun But BE SAFE

Thank you for posting. I wouldn't have thought twice about hitting that little slope. Makes me rethink how i'm going to ride. Must have been terrifying for the both guys. Glad to see that he wasn't too deep.

I rode in Long Draw with a buddy about 30 minutes before that guy got caught in that avy. Only reason I didn't hit that 20ft tall face on the way in was because I was worried about rocks with the low snow conditions. Was shocked while I checked it out on the way back to the truck. We stayed low in the meadows all day because it was sliding everywhere on slopes. Was 2.5ft - 3ft of sugar with 4" of wind blown ice layer, then about 18" - 24" of fresh on top of that. Worst avy conditions I've ever seen. Just goes to show you avy's can happen anywhere and even small slopes can kill you.
