SC10 3 OR SC10 4, which skid do I have???

Hello I have an 04 skidoo summit X 144 800ho and I was talking to Mountain Machines on the phone the other day and was trying to purchase a set of 144-159 rail extension and ben asked me if I have a sc10 3 or 4 skid and I was sure which one I have.

Could anyone on here tell me the differences between the two or how I would identify which one it is, I tried to call them today but he left for the day and not sure if he got the e-mail pics I sent him so he could identify them
Its would be a bit difficult for me to post the pics on here but I could do it
If its really nescessary for identification purposes.

any infor or a good identification tips would be appreciated.

Thanks, Wildcard28@msn.com

Almost sure you have the 3 but the only difference that I know of is the inside diameter of the rear bearing size is different on the 2. Sorry now I cann't remember which had what so I guess I'm no help/:becky:

what rear bearing size , and what do you mean by the 2 ?

like i mentioned I`m trying to purchase some rail extension 144-159 the ones that retain the hyfax all the way back to the wheels thru the specials page of mountain machines, I like this design from my experience I have found they give more support and rear ballance with a inner 2whl kit when front end of sled is in the air or wheeling on my older sled I beleive it made it more unstable kinda felt like you were riding with one single wheel on the back of the sled like a biscycle. Anyway after talkin to a guy at Mountain Machines on the phone he needed to know what skid I have. maybe I can post the link to that page and tell me which ones I need, only reason i`m focusing on thes cause they are older design and are about half price to the new designs of now. not exactly sure what those differences are either. So would anyone know why these type of extension wouldn`t interchange from a sc103 or sc104 ?

And are the slots in the rear of the rails that the axle go thru different in size? I did experience once for instance I won Smitty`s 2whl axle once at a dootalk ride event and it was for an 06 up rev and wouldn`t fit in the older skid I had not sure what the difference but I sold it.

http://mountainmachines.com/Specials.aspx

I also noticed in this page they list most of them having 7 1/4 inch wheels and my 144 skid has 7inch wheels..

Wildcard,

The sc3 and sc4 is on the short tracks, 121 and 136 coupled suspension...you have an un coupled mountain suspension. To the best of my knowledge, mmp no longer makes the rails that extend your hifax. I could be wrong, but I know last year they were making universal extensions that worked on every sled, and didn't extend the hifax. I ordered a pair from ben last year as well as an offset axel. The whole experience was as ritual horror story and I would not recommend them to anyone, but that's just me and my experience. Smitty's axel didn't work for you only cause his kit uses the factory axel blocks from the 06+ skis. I still don't understand why you don't just go with the iceage rails with whatever size offset you need to fit your wheels. On that not, despite what your wheels measure, they are 7.25"

Thanks for the info , but not to affend or anything but the reason why I`m not going with the Iceage rails you offer to me for $10 less than I can buy them from Iceage themselves is cause one, they are more money than I have to spend, I was just wanting to get a set of stock rails from the ad I posted and no extensions to just replace the 144-159 WPS universal rail extension I had on my stock skid that didn`t extend my hyfax to the rear and didn`t like that set up, You offered or told me after replying to my ad you had a 159 skid for sale and told me the price, I probably should of stopped there cause I was only lookin for rails, but I immediately put my rail extensions the offset axle I had in it and the complete skid for sale to help fund purchasing the skid you had. it was just unfortunate the a few days or so later after I had already removed my rear suspension assembly and sold the extension, offset axle assembly, and boxed up my 144 rear skid and got a guy a shipping quote , And that evening I read an e-mail saying you sold the rear skid, And felt like a D__k even telling me so, which was appreciated even tho Its a good thing I didn`t at that point sell the skid and had to notify my buyer that I had to back out of the deal cause now I need a skid to start from again, which would of completed the total amount of money and them some to send payment for the skid you had, or I would be totally screwed and had no rear suspension at All I guess now I just have a 144 skid and the sled just happens to have a 159 wrapped under it so now I have to find extensions again so I can fill the gap to put my sled back together. expecially when extensions thru Mountain Machines on there specials page for a discounted price, I was told this on the phone when I called them thursday, I can afford more than that from the parts I already sold and Will most likely be buying a set from Tracks USA since now they most likely won`t work and evidently like you mentioned Mountain Machines don`t make rail extensions that extend the hyfax but the pic on there website show them to do so. but since they for some reason are not returning my call or message, or e-mail (that probably didn`t go thru).

So sorry but I don`t have $340 for rails now after selling only $168 in parts
and almost sold a skid for $250 + shipping on all

Now this my situation sounds like a ritual horror story..

Good thing there isn`t any snow on the ground or I just might be upset, Lol

Sorry, Wildcard

im sure youve got the sc3.s i have an 04 mxz and on ski doos website, they say i have the sc4 but i have the sc3? and i bought the mountain machines rail extensions that extend the hyfax and they are pretty awesome i must say. and hes right, they quit making them they only make a universal one. BUT, check out the specials page, they have extensions for 144 to 159 on the special page.
http://mountainmachines.com/Specials.aspx
also, i have a pair of rail extensions for 136 to 151 which is the same as 144 to 159 i believe that are the slp brand that i will do 50 shipped if you want them.

wow you already had them picked out and everything...i really should start reading the posts before i post myself. im just too lazy anymore haha. your part number is ssc-20. are you positive its 7 inch wheels? ive never even heard of those size wheels in a old rev before. my sled only had 6 3/8ths wheels on it, and those mmp extensions brought me up to an 8 inch wheel.

Hello Danzick,

Thank You for the info the part # and the reply, I`ll check out that part # and yes skidoo rider 800 is correct on what he says about the wheel size, its weird the wheel measures 7inch but is listed most places as a 7 1/4inch wheel it is weird,

So like the topic says or a question toward that, do you know the difference from the sc10 2 - 3 - 4 mountain suspension which I already knew the difference between coupled and un coupled, like possibly changes in the arms, rear scissor designs or geometry things like that etc ???

So what do you think is the difference on that specials page from the ssc-20 and ssc-25 listing sounds the same other then the no 8inch wheel straight
part ??

Thank you for the offer on the SLP extension you have, but I already sold the same type of extensions that used to be on my sled like explained in my last post, just my extensions are WPS which look or design is pretty much identical lookin other than slp`s in there catalog look black in color.

correct. i have a buddy with a 04 rev 144 summit, and i will check to make sure the rails look the same as mine. and if they are the same, you should be good to go. hurry tho, i think they only have 1 set left. they had 2 left when i bought mine.

well i went and looked at that summit, and your right, they are 7 inch? thats weird. anyways, they looked the same as mine so you should be good to get them. i had to do trimming to my rails to get them to fit in, but it says right in the directions you will have to do that.

Danzick, So ssc-20 you think and I should be good to go??

When did you buy your set?? would you have any pics of them and do you already have them installed, I would appreciate a pic of that too if its now to much trouble.

Thanks, Wildcard

Awesome extensions. Well built and heavy duty. I painted them black to match my black rails. Alse I've got so far is the rail and extension. I'm waiting for my hyfax to show up before I re install the rails. I will still get a picture of them for ya. Received them last Friday.

Cool Danzick those look pretty cool just what I`m lookin for.

I tried to call mountain machines today, they must be closed on mondays all I got was message phone hopefully tomorrow I can get thru and purchase a
set. other wise I`ll have to go Tracks Usa, or some other place around the same price or cheaper,

Did you purchase yours online or did you have to pay with a debit or creditcard over the phone, I know tracks usa you have to pay from debit over the phone what sucks about that is cause the money I have to spend is in paypal and tracks usa can`t accepu a paypal payment. did you purchase yours thru paypal??

Or do you know any other place that makes the same type of rail extensions other than MMP or Tracks USA??? and better yet somewhere you can purchase them online??

Oh by the way cool looking sand or dune tire on that bike in the back..

Thanks Wildcard

thanks, that was all i could find right quick to prop the rail on haha going to the sand dunes this weekend pretty excited its a lot of fun. and by the way, i used a debt card.... BUT they might take paypal you never know. go to the wps website, there is some new extensions out now they are made by rockymoutain toys? i believe. and van am berg makes rail extensions as well.

Cool danzick, thanks have fun at the dunes one of these days I`m going to make it to the dunes here in washington towards the coast. looks like a ton of fun

I tried to call and left yet another message on mountain machines phone and again no return call, I have left 2 messages, talked to them ones on the phone, have left personal message to another counter person and e-mailed a couple times to and not one single reply of any kind, really pisses me off. crappy business tackicks far as I am concerned, Rev rider 800 it has been an nightmare dealing with them, so I called tracks usa and wife and I used out credit card and had them ordered in under 10 minutes. and will be here next tuesday so I went to the dealer where I purchased my sled and ordered a set of 159 black hyfax`s and should be set by the end of next week.

considering blacking out my rails also those looke pretty cool.

Here is a pic of my sled, every mod is in my signature other than since this pic I have done more like, removed all decals and of course will have different rail extension and a 2wheel kit again, when that goes back together now all the rear suspension is out of it. and has had the oil injection delete mod, steering post forward mod, trimmed the back of the sidepanels for more forward feet placement, Pod filters, thinking pretty seriously about narrowing my front suspension arms to the 37inch front end but not sure how much that would really help when the sled is setting at 38 3/4 not but pilot skis are set to inside location so ctc on carbides gives it a width of about 37 1/4 so I could narrow it to 36, I have the fabrication equipment and skills and welder to do this.

wow thats weird, they answered everytime i called them and the guys were great to deal with. they are just a small shop up in montana, so im not sure if they are at the shop all the time. do the tracks usa ones take you up to a 8 inch wheel?

You can get them from tracks usa that will go to 8inch wheels but I only wanted stock size wheels i`d rather go with an off set axle so if anything was to go out or wrong I can always go back to the stock axle set up.

I called tracks usa yesterday and ordered them with in 10 minutes,

Finaly about 2pm today mountain machines finaly tried to call me back I didn`t answer after trying to get ahold of them since last Wednesdayn and only go someone on the phone thursday and was told to call back and I could order them on friday, I called and got some chick on the phone that didn`t know crap, and said the guy I was talking to was going to be back later and she would have him call me, I left 2 messages and tried to call avout 5 times until I gave up yesterday. Was A Bunch of BS really. how can you have a good business and you never answer calls messages or e-mail with in a weeks time, Bummer I know tracks usa ones are better no doubt about it but would been nice to get another set for 1/2 price. anyway it over now I`ll never call them again. Hope others have better luck than I did not really trying to bash but what else would you call it, Lol

Wildcard

That's mmp for ya! I did that same dance for 5 months, only I paid for everything in advance...finally got my parts, they were the wrong ones! Mmp's for the birds.
