SB Assualt Track

Thinking of going with a deeper lug, Power Claw on my SB Assault this summer. Anyone try to put one of these on a SB Assault of RMK 144?

I came off of an 09 M8 with the powerclaw and loved it for climbing but hated the braking capability of the track. I would buy the 2.5 challenger extreme all the way.

There is no braking here in New England, there is really no such thing as a sketchy downhill here. I appreciate the feedback, but I know for a fact that the powerclaw holds up to trail riding which is a big part of what we do here.

as long as the pitch is correct i don't see why you can't put it on. that track throws some serious **** when you are riding behind it.

You flatlanders should stay out of Snowest. Just kidding guys I recognize your screen names from HCS. :face-icon-small-hap

I want to get a different track from my 2 inch Polaris for out east as well. Trouble is the pitch is 3.0 on Cat and I think 2.86 on our Assaults. I do know you have to change the drivers to use a Cat track and I just do not want to do that. I was thinking of going with the with the Challenger 2 inch.

The soft durometer of the Polaris track just folds right over in our snow conditions out here. It is great for powder but once the snow starts to firm up and get dense it is like using a slick.

imo if you riding mostly trails you probaly don't want a track with a lug height of anymore than 1.50 and running scratchers would be a must with anything taller

wrong answer, i run an rmk on the trails with the stock track, no need for studs. things are changing out here on the east coast, more and more moutnain sleds are being purchased. i won't run anythign less than a 1.75" lug height, way better traction on and off trail than the typical short lug short track sleds. my wife even commented on how much better the larger lug tracks are than the 1" tracks, she won't run anything smaller than 1.75" either.

you shut your mouth when your talking to me.:face-icon-small-hap

i believe it is 2.52 so you would have to change drivers to go with the cat 3 pitch. if it was 2.86 you could have gotten away with no change, guys do it on the gades when they go to the 141" tracks.

either way we would have to change the drivers to run the Cat track. Too much work to deal with.

I run the stock 2 inch now with scratchers and have had zero issues on the trails. My sliders are still like new too.

I don't think the 141 will fit even if you go to 7 tooth 3 pitch drivers. I would go with a camoplast 2 paddle 144. There are many different chooses out there. Changing the drivers is no big deal, just adds on to the price of track swap. The powerclaw does work great on the east coast though.

I was more thinking the 153, now I get to add new rails to the cost of the project. Time will tell, it will depend on $$$ as always. Wayne, how was the PAR head? Worth it in your opinion?

153 will definitely work. The PAR head was awesome. I also went with the hps can to cut weight. The can sounds good but is loud. I only use it when riding in maine. The fish cops where everywhere this season with snow only being in the burg. If you go with the 153 let me know I'll pm you where I got all my stuff to save you some cash.

sounds like you should just sell the assault and get an rmk.

I still like to trail ride and a second sled is out of the question for a couple years. I have trail ridden a few RMK's and they are a bit more work than I want for a 200 mile trail ride. If I could have 2 sleds it would be an RMK and a Renegade with a 1.5" studded track. Perhaps some day, but not this year.
