Saskatchewan sledding - HD mini-doc

We've filmed a gorgeous HD mini-doc looking at sledding culture in the prairies. Thought you'd like to see it. Enjoy!

Snowmobiling in Saskatchewan

Neat little video!! Good job either way - good perspective on the doc! I'm just curious if you are a member of the gov't or a federal/provincial organization? I only ask because of your user name and the titles at the end of the video.

Unfortunately for you :D, a big portion of the riders on this site are western guys (mountain riders - big hills and big horsepower!!!) :D so flatland riding doesn't impress us as much as the mountains... But don't let that discourage you (you'll just have to shoot a video for sledding out west for the hardcore fanatics like us!!) :D :D :D :D We welcome anyone who is into sledding and into promoting our sport, especially Canadian!!!! :)

Fellow SWer's, keep in mind that they are showing us a documentary promo aimed at getting people involved in the sport on the prairies, they are not trying to convert you from mountain riders to flatlanders. This isn't a promo vid for the Big Iron, it serves a specific purpose, and one that portrays the sport in a positive light, so enjoy it!

Welcome to the site!

yep...you aint got the right terrain for excitement...but you can still have fun for certain...and one thing you guys have in Sask. that is outstanding and that is you folks are just great great folk...my relatives are all around Prince Albert and my parents move from Sask in 1948 to the Yukon...but when i visit Sask. its just the great people that i really enjoy...thats your treasure..!!!

We certainly don't have any hills or the huge snowfall thats in the mountains.......but not everyone wants to ride out west. Personally I would much rather ride in the mountains any day of the week but that doesn't mean we don't have good riding here.

I live in PA and there is tons of riding in the area......both trails and cross country. It is what you make of it.

Yes there is nothing like riding in the mountains but I have had some incredible days riding here in the prairies that were better than some days out west.

The main thing is that we all have fun riding with our friends and enjoying whatever great scenery surrounds us wherever we are.

Good little video but the prairies offer a lot more than just groomed trails.

Cheers:beer;

well said.

Good job on the video looks like it was made to promote the sport and local tourism, Excellent!!! Some of the best days out there are spent riding with friends and familly no matter what the terrain is, i am just wondering why no one makes video's like that out west here. It seems it would be a great way to promote the sport and i know the government gives grants for stuff like that (not saying thats how you did it) but maybe it might open a few people's eyes up that may have never had the pleasure of enjoying what we all love to do in the winter. Snowmobiles and snowmobiling has come a long way in the past 5 to 10 years, and it seems that a lot of people are getting the wrong impression these days video's like that are great for snowmobiling in general, will it be shown on any TV programing or anything like that?

Prairies

I'm afraid this little promo doesn't do justice to what riding in the prairies is all about. Endless miles of open terrain, rolling and flat, tree'd and barren. Stubble fields as far as the eye can see and full of snow with no fence lines to worry about. Wheelies off of every hilltop for miles without interuption. Rules of the road apply here but theres no one to tell you when you can ride or how fast you can ride(if you choose)or where you light the fire for the hotdog roast. Communities that open their doors for sledding and appreciate the revenue it provides.
Mountain riding is definitely spectacular and trail riding is fine for those that like it flat and smooth but don't pass up the opportunity to ride the open plains on a sunny day with people that know their way around. It's as much a part of winter on the prairies as snow and cold weather.

Sorry, but that was time spent watching, which I will never get back in my life.

Boring and trail burning. Another video that belongs on hardcoresledder.com

Even the amatuer videos out here are better than that.

Just being honest.

Time?

You've most likely waisted more time on less so let it go.

Good little video to promote the sport. I thought that 75% of sleds that are sold, are mostly trail sleds. Meaning there are a lot more people who do this type of riding than mountain riding.

i too am from sask and the riding to be had is much better than what was displayed lol. I also am a mtn rider but some there is some good riding to be had. my house is 20 mins from cypress hills, the highest place between the rockies and labrador. while the area is small its beautiful and fun to to ride around. And there is ONE thing where mtn riding won;t compare to riding out here. Derbys and poker rallys. They are such a ball and a good derby with a big turnout of riders is just as good as a day in the mtns.

Ummmm - its a documentary, not a promo video.

Either way, after your comment above, I'm sure we are all looking forward to seeing your amazing amateur video.
