I have tried many times to sit down and contribute to this thread and just haven't been able to do it. My heart is just broken. I still don't know what to say. I am at a loss for words and people that know me, know that doesn't ever happen.
I forget how many years we have been racing MWR, I think it is like 5 years now and like I shared with my wife, you can't, but get close to the people that you race with. You spend every weekend for 4 months out of the year, year after year and those people become your second family. Sam and the McLam family have become one of those second families to us.
When we got the news last Friday morning, my wife went to the high school and told our son, Taylor personally before he could get the news from someone else. Taylor took the news so hard that we allowed him to stay out of school for the rest of the day. Sam had such an impact on Taylor and Taylor had the utmost respect for Sam and Taylor would watch and try to learn from Sam and do what Sam did on the race track. Sam has made such an impact on Taylor, our family, snocross and MWR and racing without him will never be the same!
Our family wasn't able to attend Sam's service and celebrate his life with other family and friends, but we wanted to be able to commerate Sam and we have asked the McLam family and several of the MWR family if we could honor Sam with a sticker. We are not wanting to take away from what ProX440 or anyone else is doing for Sam. I think it is awesome and more the better because Sam touched so many lives in his short time here with us! There are 2 different designs that my wife made and we will have them available at the next MWR race in McCall, Idaho and the stickers will forever be available after that. The stickers will be free to everyone so that everyone can honor Sam on their sleds, trucks, trailers and helmets.
I don't know what heaven is like, but I truly believe that heaven is a lot like what we have here on earth, but heaven is perfect so I know today that Sam is racing a perfect race in a perfect place with a big smile on his face!
WE LOVE YOU, SAM AND YOU WILL FOREVER BE MISSED, BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN!!!!
Love,
Clark, Heidi, Taylor and Kara Dyess
