SAD early season reminder! #1

This was relayed from JPridesREV on DOOtalk.......

This is the first incident of the season that I have heard of. Thought I would put it up as a reminder. Be knowledgeable about the terrain you are riding in. Always carry your beacons, probes and shovels, ALWAYS. Sign up for at east a level one avy course and please one person on a hill at a time. This is in a local area I ride quite often. We had very little base so far followed by heavy snow falls making the conditions very dangerous. These early seasons can be VERY dangerous so take your time and know your areas. Lets now let this happen again this year. Enjoy the season and lets all come home safe and happy to our families.

BOISE -- One snowmobiler is dead and another hurt after an avalanche near Cascade Thursday afternoon.

Lt. Dan Smith with the Valley County Sheriff's Office said the accident happened around 1:40 p.m. at Rock Lake west of Cascade.

Police say the avalanche was triggered by the snowmobilers.

The body of Joel Barrie from Payette was found buried under five feet of snow with his snowmobile on top of him.

A second snowmobiler was hurt and flown by air ambulance to a nearby hospital.

:brokenheart:How tragic! Another lost in the prime of their lives. And right around Christmas to make it worse. Dam it. :(

Being on this 4M and specifically here in Ut. we know better by sad experience. Preach it up in the parking lots boyz & girls this BS has to stop!!

Thanks for the scared straight post and so so sorry for the victim and family.
One key thing to remember is the family. After all they are the ones left behind to deal with day to day sadness of a lost loved one.:brokenheart:

Jed and I watched a guy climbing Super Bowl and honestly gave me the creeps and wanted to leave before I became a S&R volunteer putting my life on the line.

GP and I were talking about how sad it would be to see, hear or read about losing a UT forum memeber.

Think smart and play safe everybody.
