rx1 mpi stage 2 supercharger

Hey, I just purchased a 05 rx-1 with a supercharger and 162-16-2.5" track. I am just wondering if anyone has any tuning tips or instructions for a mountain performance stage 2 supercharger. The previous owner has it tuned for 10,000 ft elevation, and most of my riding is in the 6,000 to 8,000 ft. I havent got to ride the sled yet but would like to get it in the ballpark before I do.

Does your setup have a blowoff valve? If not, give Tom Hartman a call to talk setup. MPI for whatever reason will not add a BOV to their kit, and it increases the rideability and mileage of the setup. I'm sure Tom will also have clutching suggestions for you.

Mine was installed by the person I bought the sled from, with advice from Tom and also from Alan at Timbersled.

Yes, Tom incorporates a BOV. I'm not sure why MPI is so stubborn about not incorporating a BOV...every good running S/C has had one added.

The MPI kit is really high quality...it's just incomplete. I have had good luck in dealing with MPI, but I haven't had a need to deal with any bad issues, so take if for what it's worth. I think they are making an effort to clean up their bad rep...but it takes time.

If I were starting from scratch, I would call them and express the concerns and give them a chance.

I have only riden it in the front lawn... not snow yet. I will give you guys at MPI a call tomorrow or thursday. I ordered those taper locks for the pulley swap from mpi today but forgot to ask about tuning.

Another piece of advice...you need to take a close look at the entire setup and get an understanding of all the parts and pieces. Problems in the backcountry is no time to try to figure things out.

Interesting...this is the first I've EVER heard of MPI offering a BOV.

Yes, we're aware that Tom takes your kit and improves upon it. Over the years Tom has built up a VERY loyal following by offering solid performance and awesome customer service and support. Others in the industry should use companies like his as an example of how important customer service and support are AFTER THE SALE...it's why so many are willing to go to him and pay a little more for MPI's product.

I do realize that he buys his kits from you, but buying from Tom means you also get he's good customer service. In the past everyone i talked to said MPI was useless when they had a problem, or question about how to get their charger running good. I think its great that you and Skyler are taking time to respond to post's on this forum. IMO it shows that you are trying to improve what was lacking in the past. For me customer service is just as important as a quality product. I'm going to wait to get some seat time on a charged nytro before i buy, but i think the instant power is what im looking for. Yes in the past we have had some coustomer service problems. We are on top of our customer service here at mpi. If you wana call me or heath here at mpi feel free to do so 9-5mst and we will take care of you so that your supercharged sled is running at 100% we are not happy until you are happy. We now have the blow off valve as a extra in our kits it's a $200 extra.
