Running Roard Insert, What do you all like the best

Hello all,

What do you all think are the best running board inserts for no more snow on the boards or better elimination of the snow, and which ones are the longest you can get.

any ideas, advice and links would be appreciated. also let see some pics too please.

My Sled is an 04 Summit X 800

Thanks, Wildcard

Snow Eliminators

That's what I use, mainly because of price and they work very well.

WRP makes a pretty good looking set of boards. Better boards aren't to shabby neither. Either way, these two are good.

my brother got the better boards and he realy likes them. once i get my sled back from the shop im going to put them on. theres no snow buid up at all.

I have better boards, they are ok the "coating" comes off pretty quick if you kick your boards off alot with heavy boots. Much better then stock. Haven't tried the other ones to compare.

I have better boards on 2 sleds. Much better than stock. They are the non coated alumimun ones. They will build some snow in wet sticky situations but, it just takes a little rub with your foot and it falls right out. Well worth the $$.

If you are looking for cheap just buy the stiffiners from BRP and cute the holes bigger. Not as effective as after market but better than stock. Also cut the rubber flap off of the front, makes a world of difference!

Cheers

I like the ones I built......No Snow at all ever and traction is amazing!

i wouldn't advise you to start cutting without a proper "hefty" bracing such as the wrp boards or ReTodd's sick creation, because the stock flimsy boards might as well have been made out of rubber. I removed the board edges and inserted aluminum the whole length of the edge and still will buy the wrp kit asap.

That is exactly how I set mine up, a 7/16 rod fits perfect in the board edges. Then the WRP boards to brace the whole thing up and to clear the snow your sled will feel way better. I cut the ends of my edges since I was building the steps but you could get the rods in there if you removed about 1/2 the rivets on each edge then just tap it in there with a mallet ( a little spray oil will help )

I can't stand a stock rev anymore, gummy running boards and slippery from snow build up. With a good set of inserts you stop thinking about snow build up, just step down and the snow goes threw and out. I almost never kick my sled anymore.

Ive sold lots of Better Boards, everyone likes them. 'My big problem is that I don't require the tractio nI see on many of the kits, I like the look of WRP boards but the teeth or too big, I find the stock(off an 06) to be plenty aggressive, but the holes too small. I think most of my issues will be taken care of when I do a similar tunnel mod to jacmmaxwell. I have Cat extrusions and access to a CNC table so that'll happen when I have some down time. Think that'll help the most when it comes to snow buildup as the rear portion of the tunnel is always where i have an issue with snow.

Nice lookin sleds and insert kinda hard to choose from I like the better boards but have kind of a plain look the WRP have a sweet look.

thanks for all the replys, keep them comin. Pics Please

my sled has the stiffeners already sure I`ll take them off when I install what ever inserts I get.

Two things I noticed with the better boards, First is there is a traction bar right under the toe bar in the foot well. This to me seemed like a twisted knee waiting to happen if you wiped out. The WRP boards don't have that last traction bar there in the foot well.

Second, the rev boards need support. The better boards are not long enough to attach over the rear skid hangers on the summits. This helps tie the whole structure together IMO. The better boards come short by a couple inches, now you have a stiff mid section that with 2-3" of flimsy factory board with nothing to suport it. It just seemed like a good way to end up with cracks down the road.

Lots of good products out there, just have to decide what will work best for you.

I have been concerned of the same exact thing just what you mentioned, seems the front of the boards are strengthened but the rear to the drop bracet there seems to be nothin, my sled like mentioned in my last post has the running board stiffeners and they are realy strong I at my weight 145 with no gear on, I don`t feel alot of flex on the boards but then again haven`t had enough time on the sled to get the feel of where the boards move 1st ride was last weekend.

I guess could also fab my own strengthening system after the inserts I decide on are installed.

Thanks, Wildcard
