RUNNING LIKE CRAP, ONCE AGAIN!!

O.k, I'm going to take a deep breath, and try to explain. I just replaced both my bellows, because the mag side had a tear in it. fired it up, no big deal, starts fine, idles for about 30 seconds, and she starts to fart, squirt, sputter, backfire, and everytime she backfires, sounds like she is running on one cylinder. And then the idle drops down to about 1250-1300. So, I check the tps, it's spot on, and has been since I re-adjusted it 5 rides ago, newer plugs in it, half tank of fuel, What the heck is going on with it now!!!! She has been running great since Indy Dan torque master 3 bottom end, and he also redid my top end. Not sure what to check next. I'm getting fed up. Any suggestions guys?

TPS harness..
shorted tether cord..
do you have a boondockers control box? my wifes did the same thing REALLY bad last week and i just found the ground wire was broken off from the stator housing..

hope you get it going man...let me know if you need ANYTHING..

Thanks Sean for the suggestions. I replaced the tps and harness a month ago. But perhaps I should check where I spliced in the new harness. Tether seemed fine. I ran out of trouble shooting time this morning before work. I will run some tests tonight. Keep all suggestions coming though. I'm boggled. This hasn't happened before. No boondocker box.

i would double and tripple check everything you touched when you put the bellows in i have done some stupid stuff and forgot to hook something up before.

Its weird, I just had 3 days of solid riding on it. Then parked it with no issues. Do things appear over night??

with the 900s...yes..lol..

yeh man, get a close look at the wiring of the TPS..it might have rubbed through or shorted...the wifes was rubbing the cylinder pretty good, but wasnt the issue, but very well could have been the next one...

try unplugging everything on your handle bars as well, and i mean everything...just control the sled by the key...and if it will run decent, start plugging in one by one...

i had a similar issue with my 900 last year and it was a bad kill switch

My boys coming through. Your both probably right. I get bored, and start modding the **** out of things. Last night I took my swaybar off, plugged the exhaust tubes, and I thought it was the plugging of tubes, so i returned it back to it's original state. Same trouble. No ecu flash codes, and running like a turd ball. Maybe something is unplugged still. Maybe one of my splices for the tps plug is intermittent....Not sure.

maybe stupid, but i have seen it..ok..i did it...i removed my spark plug wire once to get my hand back behind there and it wasnt "snapped" on the plug when i put it back on...who knows....dummy things have happened...to me..lol..

do everything above and report back if its fixed or not, and we will get it going broseph

So, I went through my tps harness, and all other quick electrical checks, everything was fine. So I pulled my y pipe to have a look at the pistons, and sure enough, I"ve got some cream coming from my pto side piston. Same as before my rebuild. I need to get a hold of Indy Dan.

Are any of you guys running washers under your cylinder head bolts? Thats what Dan told me to do. I guess the bolts from polaris are a c hair too long, and don't tighten down on the base gasket enough. Going to add washers tonight, I will let you know how it turns out.

ya i put some in when i was looking for a coolant leak, haven't had any problems thus far with it, just went to the hardware store and got some...there is a thread on here for the size....they were really expensive and not in stock at the dealer

Are any of you guys running washers under your four head bolts? Thats what Dan told me to do. I guess the bolts from polaris are a c hair too long, and don't tighten down on the base gasket enough. Going to add washers tonight, I will let you know how it turns out.

YES..i am running the washers as well...you can look up the parts diagram on babbitts and im sure it has the size listed..and get them from the local hardware store..

wish you the best man...i mean..."broseph"

Alright, update. I pulled the head off tonight, and the pto side was just covered in white milk. So I wiped it all off, and pulled the base cylinder bolts and added the washers and got her all back together safe and sound. Pain in the *** to do, but was really a straight forward task. I would like to let the lock tite and rtv sealant seal up, before I fire her up. Tomorrow morning will be good. I really feel that this could be the culprit causing me the grief. Will let you all know. Thanks for the support.

they sell high temp head inter O rings too, that could be it too, hope you looked at them, as If it runs hot on ya ,they will melt and could that milky look too .hope it works out for ya. let us know.

Are you talking about the cyinder to case bolts or head bolts? Those are what the bulletin was for cylinder to case; for too long of bolt that would bottom out in the case which didn't allow the cylinder to make firm enough contact upper crankcase surface.
