Rubies snow depth?

Anybody know how the Rubies look?

Snotel 3 Feb states 4 inches water equivalent at 7000 feet with over 2 feet snow?

The Rubies aren't too bad IF you are careful. There is definitely good snow to be found if you look. There are still a lot of land mines out there if you are in the wrong spots. We rode Friday (which was great) during the storm and then again on Sunday (pretty tracked up but not bad). The higher you get the better the snow, obviously. I think the Snotel is at 7700' and Lamoille Lake is somewhere around 9000' so there is considerably more snow at the lake area. PM me for more info if you want.

There's finally enough to play! Has received multiple feet over last few days....we were in good deep powder Tues, waist deep! Totals are still low....varies widely. Land mines are minimal...just need to avoid the rock gardens. "elkosledheads" and "high country octane" on facebook have updates, pics and video.

I don't know I if I would call the snow fantastic. It's a lot like riding in May haha. Very crusty and you can climb almost anything you dare. Traction is great, packing the skis all the way up most climbs. There are a few pockets of good snow but you have to hunt for spots that stay out of the sun. We definitely have a lot of snow now, it's just not the best snow in the world. Definitely still sketchy as far as avalanches are concerned. Everyone that I talked to is still pretty leary after the past few weeks conditions, including me.

I don't know Kevin...those conditions are fantastic for the rubies! That place is so steep deep powder really limits you. Honestly, I like "go anywhere snow" more than powder!

Oh I agree on the go anywhere part. I wasn't saying that it isn't good for the Rubies. I just meant that it isn't something that I would call fantastic as compared to other places. It is great for us. It's definitely better than sitting at home looking at pictures of everyone else riding haha.

Kevin, We should have some outstanding springtime riding this weekend. I am hoping yesterdays little front smoothed up the mountain a bit. I picked up a new 2014 Polaris a couple weeks ago that I think runs comparable to Eric's, it pulls a crapload harder than my 2012, I hope I don't have any springtime incidents with it, see you on the mountain. We should have a great spring, the avalanche probably extended our season a few weeks.

Had an OUTSTANDING 8HR ride on Tues! Didn't even ride everywhere we wanted! Is there some hard areas? Sure....just basically stay away from all the places where there is a beat down trail. Found places of WAIST DEEP POWDER! Just gotta know where to look. ;-)
