i am sick of my sled as all i do is thrash it, and it is now dead/dying. so i have the oportunity to buy an 05 rt with a bunch of toys on it that the guy claims he hasnt had any problems with it for 3500. now i know there has been some negative press for the 1000 sleds

my pros--- sdi= always running right (with 07 mid alt)
tons of power
i have a 151 to swap under it so i can actually handle it.

cons--- heavy, but i have been known to drop a pound or two off a sled.

i am really just looking for some experience, im coming of a rev, but only a bb600 so the power would be my biggest gap

rt

My biggest complaint that I had with my RT was the weight. I didn't have any problems with it at all, it was a strong runner. I totalled it on a rock as the a-arms are way too strong on those sleds. If you do buy one you might want to drill a hole in the a-arms so they take the hit rather than the whole frame. I now have an XP and love the handling, jumping, everything about it. But it doesn't have nearly the torque that the RT had. If you could shave A LOT of weight off it you still might love it. I know a lot of people ***** about the engine, but my experience with that engine was only positive. I also never took the sway bars off of the RT and that would have probably helped a lot. Good luck.

the guy has done all the remaps and updates and put lightweight panels, a can and some other light mods. its already at least 20+ pounds down from stock and my drill hasnt even touched it yet.

for the price i think i may upgrade it some in the fall, like a lightweight skid.

the torque on the things seems to be the main strong point, with a maverick 162 im almost afraid of what i will have.

I love mine. I came from a prowler 440 and the torque of the doo is amazing. To me the only time I ever feel it is heavy is when it is stuck, that is when the extra weight is felt. If it is an 05 you can remove the rear cooler and save about 7-10lbs but that probably has been done. For that cheap of a price you cant go wrong, buy it and put a few more light weight parts like the skid and maybe a seat since the stock one is a little low and you will have a sled that rips.

seems like other than a few update issues and a little weight loss these things are nothing but a solid mountain sled. but its already down about 15 pounds between can and vents and the lowrise led bumper, so i think i can take her down a solid 50 pounds with all my magic.

buy it....the price is great!!! i have an 05 rt that is mostly stock right now, except for the can and some clutching done to it. needs to be lighten'd up a bit still ths summer, but the sled has tons of power and rips. i have a little over 2000 miles on it right now, 1000 or whick i put on last winter. and i agree, the weight is mostly felt when ur really stuck! and she'll get real stuck if you baby her! just jump in and be aggressive and you'll love that sled. DO TAKE THE SWAY BAR OUT!! it makes a huge difference in how it handles. ride it with it in a couple of times, and then take it out. you'll notice and really like it. she'll go anywhere you got the nuts to hold on!! have fun!

My buddy has one that wails and you dont see many out there so its a head turner. tear it down and check the skirts and check the oil pump... they need more oil than his came set for. They also need clutching and gearing down wont hurt either.

I ride with a guy who rides one.
He has had it stuck a few times, no more than usual but I always helped him get it unstuck and I really didn't notice it being such a "Heavy Pig" as I've heard it described at all.

I rode it a few times and the only complaint I had was that the throttle was "Strange" It was very jerky so if you were on a smooth trail, trying to ride in a group on the way to a play area, it seemed hard to just cruise smooth.
If I touched the trigger at all it would lunge forward pretty hard and when I let off the throttle it was like hitting the brakes lightly.

My ride is a REV with some "Improvements" in power and weight and the RT was real easy to get used to.

Buy it and have a blast! I doubt you'll regret it.

like all the heavier sleds, its really not that noticable, with the few lightweight things it already has on it it should be just fine.

as for the throttle, seems more like the clutching is weird, my DJ clutch kit is sort of like that on my 738, the thing is always there, and if your below 50 the clutch catches so hard it slows down FAST, which is really nice when your coasting back down a climb and dont want to lock the track.

anyone got any videos of one going?

Liked mine, ran tempermental, but if it felt like climbing, it always made an impressive mark. Tough sled, pounded the living S#&* out of it for over 4000km till the crank got too loose, only major issue. Agree with the lack of oil from factory, don't run a chain over 1200km, clean clutchs after every big ride and find the cornices, it won't bend:beer;:beer;

I have a 06 mxz 1000x 144x2in track.
Fast clutch kit
crankshop pipes
let me tell ya it flat runs and runs strong. The dirrerence is the pipes for sure. I love my sled it's the best one to date i have owned.
It just goes all out all the time.
I have not had it to the dealer for anything.
:d

i have a 151x2 kicking around from my old sled so i may run the shorter track and have a setup for that for the hard snow times of year. like post march riding. and keep the 162 for the big time..

im getting a set of RKT domes for it as they are really nice and i know they work. it has a BMP pipe mod and i really dont have the money for CS twins so it will stay this way for now, the next mod will be porting the motor.just domes and a moded single puts you close to 180 with the 07 remap
