RT 1000 3K Miles

Hey Guys I got an 05 RT 1OOO with 3k miles put timbersled intake on last season. Pulled them off the other day and found alot of belt dust in the reed cages. Cleaned them up but now am wondering if all that dust went in the motor what will it do. Have had no prob. with sled whatsoever thinking bout doing pistons and rings could belt dust get into bottom end??

Thanx JB

I have had mine apart twice now, and don't see any sign that the belt dust is hurtin anything, I have no air box, and just run the prefilter out of the box ziptied to the cone, I'm sure it goes rightout the exaust.

it doesnt hurt it any. i have cleaned my reeds several times. on the carburated motors the fuel washes the dust through.

I disagree--If fuel and oil get to the crank and bearings--so does the belt dust. Would you want belt dust in your car motor? Same deal as far as I am concerned.
I cut the horn off my inner box and put a filter on--after 2 rides the throttle bodies were filthy along with the reed cages. I bought a new inner box and gutted my outer box and have the foam and the race filter kit outside that. No more dirty throttle bodies--plus pulling cold air always.

Dirt of any sort is not a good thing--period.

Not trying to pick a fight--But think about what you are saying:confused: it makes no sense.
