RPM/Power loss during long pull

Hey guys I'm resurrecting this thread because some of the symptoms are what my dad is experiencing. I searched around and didn't find anything quite like his issue here.

2017 Gen4 850 has 1,000 miles on a 2019 motor. 2,700 on the chassis. All stock.
If he climbs a long pull at 3/4 or less throttle everything is fine. If he holds it WOT after a short while it acts like it is running out of fuel. If he turns out and backs off the throttle and goes WOT it will let him hit 8000 RPM but soon acts the same way. If he had backed out of the throttle and goes to 5/8-3/4 it seems fine. He runs good non-ethanol fuel. Changed the in-line fuel filter. I don't think he is seeing DET.
We are thinking about trying to take a look at his fuel pickup in the tank. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Mine was doing this and it turned out to be the fuel pump.

I would vent the hell out of it. I just got back from McCall and it was deep snow over the hood and when I would run it hard it wouldn't be as peppy cause the motor would get heat soaked I'd stop and open both panels let cool for a beer then put them on and it'd be just. So in short I'm getting some venting today.

Clutches have not been serviced, not that they shouldn't. It feels more like a fuel delivery problem. The issue has been going on for 1000 miles but it seems like it is getting worse. @tchriste thanks for the heads up of the fuel pump, might be the same issue.
