RPM/Power loss during long pull

Hi I have 18 Summit X 175. During long pulls in deep snow 60-90 seconds at WOT my sled seems to pull power. For most of the climb when I look down its anywhere between 7800-8100 then bam 7200-7400 and that's it I have to turn out. Cycling the throttle does not help bring it back up. I took it to the dealer and had the rave valves checked out for proper function. Any ideas on what else could be causing this issue?

Currently the sled is pretty much stock with updates done and Jaws can .

Thanks

When my 2017 Summit X 165 did this exact same thing the cause was the ECU was detecting detonation. Once the detonation was no long detected all was normal.

Making sure your fuel is fresh and at least 91 octane non-ethanol is critical.

If fueling from a multi-product pump the first gallon or two will be whatever the prior customer purchased so the 91 octane only starts flowing after the pump is clear of the other product. Just something to be aware of.

How many miles? Try running it with the stock can.

^^^What he said. Several people including myself have found that it's not unusual for aftermarket can's to lose RPM compared to stock on a long climb.

Install a 19 tooth top gear.

Install a 19 tooth top gear. No rpm fade.
This could help but I think the issue is in clutching. Springs or rollers maybe.

Kanedog, where did you purchase the 19t gear in bc? BRP is well over $100....

Do a search for 19 tooth gear. A fellow snowester researched a ton and found them for around 36 bones I think. Cheers!

Check all of the systems, even the exhaust being used. Even the stock clutching and gearing does not do this.

The sled is getting into a fail safe and slowing down. I know of some big bore guys struggling with this. Muffler temp will do it for sure. At a certain temp the ecu starts closing exhaust valves too lessen horsepower and heat. My first guess is you have something like that happening

So I went and found 92 non ethanol got about 5 gal in. Went out and rode and it only did it once all day. I'm thinking it must be detonation. My next ride I should have even more non ethanol in and I will report back. I also have a gear on the way.

Thanks

I dunno.
If it was detonation your sled will beep at you and flash a message. All of that info on the messages are found in your owners manual.

I’d check out your clutch carefully, that’s how mine started to run as the clutch was eating itself up, rollers sticking and bushings falling out @ 1500mi. Good luck it was pricey by the time I caught it

Hey guys I'm resurrecting this thread because some of the symptoms are what my dad is experiencing. I searched around and didn't find anything quite like his issue here.

2017 Gen4 850 has 1,000 miles on a 2019 motor. 2,700 on the chassis. All stock.
If he climbs a long pull at 3/4 or less throttle everything is fine. If he holds it WOT after a short while it acts like it is running out of fuel. If he turns out and backs off the throttle and goes WOT it will let him hit 8000 RPM but soon acts the same way. If he had backed out of the throttle and goes to 5/8-3/4 it seems fine. He runs good non-ethanol fuel. Changed the in-line fuel filter. I don't think he is seeing DET.
We are thinking about trying to take a look at his fuel pickup in the tank. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
