Just wanted to say thanks to Billy at Roscoe's for a great weekend. The food was great, the drinks were flowing, and the snow was...... well the food was great and the drinks were flowing. Missed Mark this weekend, as he was down south, but Billy and the crew took great care of us! I highly suggest stopping in for anyone riding the Mesa, even if you don't happen to be staying at the lodge. Had a giant "12oz" piece of Prime Rib last night that was fantastic, great bowl of Elk Chili for lunch, and big old pancakes for breakfast. Stop in, it's worth it.
Only suggestion Billy, Bigger Menu.:face-icon-small-win

Pancakes, no one mentioned any pancakes....thanks Billy that had to be the fastest cup of java in history..

man, my head still hurts.......18hrs later......:face-icon-small-dis

Billy ROCKS! If it snows I will come out to see him again...it is a long way to come from WI to eat and drink. Thinking about it...it is not that far when Billy is cookin' (and mixing cocktails).

SEE YOU SOON!

Found us some new riding area for when you get here.

BIGGER MENU is on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if it's because I am from the Midwest, but the crew at Thunder Mountain Lodge and Roscoe's is extremely accommodating. Seems as if that's just how most people are in Colorado. Yet again another reason to pack up and leave this place.......oh ya, I can't retire for 22 years

You do not have to retire. You just have to come out on your planed trips. With your best friends.:face-icon-small-coo

WE NEED YOUR INPUT! Snow has been dismal up on the Mesa so activity is extremely low during the week. What does everyone think if we were to close the restaurant Mondays - Wednesdays until Mother Nature decides its winter?

Billy,
With the Snow God's not doing there part:face-icon-small-dis if you have to spend money to stay open I would close. If you have guests coming let them know.
Been thinking of your Great Prime Rib. When we come up we will stop in as long as you have some horseradish:wave:

tough call on days of operation...been pretty slow without snow I guess.

If I show up to a place and its closed.....during a time it should be open...lunch dinner....I get a bad taste?

What about guests staying at the lodge....other options for food?

this is the hard side of running a seasonal business....and the season doesn't show up.

Best of luck Billy....top notch food and service for sure!

I would show and cook for ANY guest that was staying on the Mesa or was making a day trip.
Just contact me 970-309-7045.
I have talked with all the lodges here and other local business asking them what they think?
Everyone is slow, and people are pushing the trips and dates to later in the year or until it snows?????????

I feel your pain Billy. Do what ya gotta do to survive. We have winter hours at the shop - closed on Mondays, and reduced hours tues-Sat. In our case, it does not negatively effect our gross for winter, but does save us $$ in expenses. Gotta look at the big picture, not just 1 month. You will do fine!

I only took the advice that was provided by my idol. His exact words were "I don't think it is worth your time or money to make the trip now. I would wait." So I took it and stayed home. Can't believe my "best friends" would leave me like that!

As for the closing during the slow days.....that is a tough spot you are in. I completely understand where you are coming from. I also agree with Tudizzle and the bad taste when you go somewhere and they are closed. And I remember what you were telling us about past times and the hours of operation at the former business at your location.

However, family has to come first. Good luck with your decision and hope that it all goes well. Either way, there is no such thing as making everybody happy. I am keeping my fingers crossed that mother nature provides some snow soon and brings lots of hungry and thirsty riders to your location.
