Ron Paul??

Anybody have any opinions on this guy? I'm 34 years old and just registered to vote for the first time in my life. Needless to say, I'm less than happy with any of the choices I have to vote for president this year. Ron Paul has sparked my interest although some of his ideals are going to be hard to accomplish IMO. Curious to see what others think about this guy...If we could get him to stand up for land use rights I think I would vote for him...

Ron Paul is exactly what America needs, whats left of America that is.

Thats what I think after reading many of his ideas...I will try to contact him and find out his stance on keeping public lands open...if he is with us, maybe we all need to band together and get him into office...Keep this going, we need a better choice!!!

He has a very "common sense" way of approaching things.
I would love to see him as pres.

That will never happen, because it has become far more important to have
a slick smooth delivery of your ideas rather than having good solid ideas.

He is not an orator whatsoever, he comes across as a "crackpot".
The media would eat him up.

It's sad when a good man is automatically out of the race for such superficial
reasons.

I've looked into to him several times over the last few months. After reading this thread, I did it again. I would vote for him. Why is he so behind the scenes though? It's not money, he raises it!

The main stream media chose the candidates months ago. It is sad that a man of such integrity and ideals never got the chance he deserved. I don't agree with everything he says, but he is the only candidate I will vote for!

Whether he wins or not, If he is on the ballot when I vote, I'm thinking he will get mine!!! The other candidates are not willing to address the immigration issue and that is very important to me. I want illegals out of here as they aren't helping our failing economy whatsoever...45,000 jobs lost last month in the u.s. So as far as I'm concerned we need every job available for CITIZENS of the u.s right now to get us back on track. I won't vote for anybody that supports amnesty for the illegals!! my 02Cents:beer;

In my opinion, you are looking at that wrong.
If we forced able bodied people to work instead of living off of "the system",
there would be no demand for all of these illegal immigrants, thus no reason
to come here.

I am actually more pissed at our own citizens who refuse to work and expect handouts, than the people coming here for a better life.

Does the name Ross Perot ring a bell? That election was followed with 8 years of land closures. If ya wana throw your vote away, feel free. Just dont be b!tching when Obama wins.
Oh, and do you really think Obama and a dem congress will be tougher on illegal imigration and government handouts than MCcain?

Mafesto, I don't agree with you sometimes cause you take like to be the devils advocate but, that is prob one of the best stated things about immigration that I have seen in along time. I agree with it 100%. I dont have a hard time with a guy that has no life in Mexico or central America that comes up works his @ss off moving pipe or doing the hard jobs to make a better life for himself. I do get pissed when I see intelligent able bodied citizens picking up welfare check because they choose to not take a lower paying job until they find one that pays them what they want. That laziness is the problem in the US these days.
It is sad that when we get a good candidate that just struggles with his delivery that the media phases the guy out. IMO the media hurts the country because of this.

I'm glad you recognize my "devils advocate' role in this silly world here on SW!

I'm also happy to see that someone else agrees with me in that if we make
out lazy slobs work for their money, much of the immigration problem will simply take care of itself.

Maybe we could come up with a trade program, where we trade our welfare pigs for Mexicans who want to work.;)

I agree with what both of you are saying here...wish we could trade, but we can't. What pisses me off is the ILLEGALS that are here working under the table not paying taxes and then taking the money they make back to Mexico to support their family of 20 that they had when they couldn't afford it. If you don't understand how much these people are taking out of hard working americans like you and me,you might want to look into this further...Every time one of these illegals gets hurt, or causes a crime, who gets the bill?
Any way you look at it, its politics. Don't want to ruffle any feathers, just stating my humble opinion and I appreciate yours.:beer;
Also, thanks for the comment about "throwing my vote away" that IS a good point...Soooooo, who are you voting for??? McCain or Obama ??? are our lands safer with one than the other? Cause while Obama was in montana he ran a comercial saying he would fight to keep public lands open. Everyone on here seems to be so against him and I guess I'm just confused:confused: Does anybody have solid evidence of who is a better candidate as far as our beloved sport is concerned?? If so, post it cause I definately don't want to "throw my vote away"
Thanks,
Bryan

That's because if you are a snowmobiler, it has been assumed that you will vote republican.
Many on here would not vote Democrat under any circumstance.
I call that "ignorant voting". You see it in both parties.

Land issues always play a significant factor in my voting decision.
But there are problems we face that have much greater consequences
than land closures at this time.
If we see $7-$10/gal gas, our sport is done anyway!

I'm just saying look at the big picture, don't rely on others to tell you who is
best. Research the candidates & their stance on issues along with their
consistancy on their stances.

My story?
I'm not saying until I see who the running mates are.

Ron Paul has some nice ideas I would like to see in todays government, like has been mentioned, H Ross Pero. He is to extreme on some events. He is too extreme on todays military situation, in pulling us out of Iraq totally, today. He is also to extreme in potentially trying to divide the party by having his own rally across town from the Republican National Convention. He can do nothing but divide(sub divide the party) on an action like this.

i just gained a ton of respect for you man....

Thanks.

I just want people here to ....

1 Become informed, know the candidates, their views & voting records

2 Vote their own convictions. This isn't 4th grade, you don't have to vote for who ever the cool kids are voting for!

3 Lastly, if you are going to campaign for a candidate...know your facts before posting them.
