Rode Mt. Baker Friday, NOT BAD!

We went up to Mt Baker Friday. It was as little snow as I have ever had there, but still fun. Parked at the 3rd lot and rode out 1 mile on partial cover, some bare spots though. Once you get above the last little parkinglot, it is all snow. The main play area was very rideable with waste deep powder, a bit heavy. It was snowing the whole day with lots more coming. I think its finally time to get some decent riding FINALLY! Had a fun day overall and worth the drive.:face-icon-small-blu

Thanks for the update

Thanks for the update, been waiting to go up there as is probably everyone else but didn't want to rock out my new powder ski's yet. Hopefully it will stick around till next weekend when I can go.

We went up Friday and waited in the top main lot, hoping the rain would turn to snow. It didn't and we went up doing about 1 mile of partial snow gravel riding. Once up there it was snowing hard and the wind was blowing, After crossing the snow bridge it was narrow and very surreal. We were night riding and the poor visibility and treacherous holes it was intimidating. We made it to the base lower edge of peanut.

First ride on a SnowHawk and being disoriented by weather and night time conditions we headed back.

Spent the night in the parking lot it rained/poured all night long and in the morning we headed up again.

Saturday the poor visibility and blowing snow made for poor conditions.

We made it up to Peanut and played in the salad bowl, seemed like the wind had blown the snow away. Could not see the snow, holes and obstacles were drive by brail.

The good news is this is going to help build the base. These pictures were taken during a clear moment.

I am not trying to disrespect the first post its just that when you can have days like below

Saturday was foggy and windy.

compare this picture to the Saturdays pictures and there is no comparison. The bummer is it cost the same amount of money for this Saturday as it did for the picture above.

Friday Was Great!!!!

We had a group that rode friday as well, for baker it was great visibility you could make it up to baker pass and drop down to horse coral in to the trees, or we just popped over sulphur and rode the first 3 or 4 draws. A bad visibility day is when you pull up to peanut and can't see peanut, or can't tell if your moving. Don't get me wrong I've rode baker on lots of blue bird days but there far a few between. This storm cycle had to get us a little closer to average.

rode Saturday... up over sulpher and played the tree line and bowls. bad vis, but know the mtn, and you know where to find better vis areas

Went up there yesterday snow was wet and dumping got to bottom of peanut, buddy went up farthur heard two avys and found out that my buddy was in one luckly it burried the front but almost pushed him over the cliff. Lots of powder though fun just needs time to set
