RMK Pro from the US?

I have bought Summits in the US over the years, but reading over and over about how amazing the Pro chassis is, I would like to bring a 011 Pro into Canada. I realize that means a sled with no warranty regardless of mileage, I would like to hear from people who have got a 011 Pro into Canada without any hassle from Customs. Also the posts of the blown motors in the Pro's are worrying me a bit as well. But I really want to ride this sled, it sounds just wicked. this sled has been picked twice now as the best 800 mountain sled, both in 011 and 012.

I picked up a 2011 standard RMK 800 155" with only 146 miles on it for $8500 U.S. As long as your paper work is done properly it's no issue to import it. I did the same thing with the last 3 sleds I've purchased, no warranty problems so far, touch wood!!!

no problems here either. I bought a 2011 pro rmk 163 for $8500. If it needs warranty work for a major componant id run it south for the work.

I was quoted $10,700 for a 2012 Standard 800 RMK 155" OTD (including all fees). This is brand new unit with 2 yr warranty from an Alberta dealership

I just want to add my 2 cents to importing... Using your sleds as examples. Add GST and RIV fee and your price is $9,130. This does not include gas, vehicle wear and tear, hotels and your time. This is not enough of a savings for me to go south, for some people it might. Keep in mind this is for a year old used machine.

I just want people to ensure they understand the additional things you need to keep in mind with buying form the US. I've bought 5 sleds and an enclosed trailer about 3-4 yrs ago, the difference in price isn't as great anymore on importing.

Wow, you got a great deal at $10,700 three buddies last year all paid $13,500 buying three!!! You are right about adding the GST and $200 RIV fee.

I shopped around localy before deciding to import a sled.
At the time our dollar was with more than the US.
The best local price on a comparable sled was $11200 otd without the extra stuff that came with the US sled.
If the local guys could be within $500 they would have my business.
The closest US Polaris dealer is only 2.5 hours away. If the sled has a major warrantyable issue I'll be heading south. Not a big deal to me but I understand not everyone wants to gamble on limited dealer support.

I am asking if any of the Canadian border officials actually went out and looked at the stickers on the right side of the tunnel and O.K,ed them as compliance stickers. The stickers on the Pro's are different than on Ski-Doo's they don't actually say that they comply with US and Canadian federal safety standards. Also did recall clearance letters come from Polaris, or can you get unit history's from US dealers that will work for RIV. I have imported a lot of sleds from the US, and it never to my thinking, from my experince in the past, would ever make me buy a sled in Canada. That is a sad statement to have to make, but it's the truth. Thanks for the reply's.
