RMK or Pro / 155 or 163?

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a 2011 Poo.

From what I can tell the only difference between the RMK and the Pro are:

  • Add'l cooler on the RMK
  • Better shock package on the Pro
  • Carbon fiber rear bumper on the Pro
  • Regular bars on the RMK and Pro tapers on the Pro
Is there anything else?

In WA we don't get a lot of POW, usually wet and heavy snow....occasionally we get some good fluff, but it's still fairly heavy.

I mostly boondock and sidehill with some occasional straight up climbing, I'm not much of a jumper. We normally have to run groomed trails or roads to get us into the back country. (That fact has me leaning towards the RMK with the add'l cooler, I'd like to not have to worry about scratchers all the time)
The added weight of the add'l cooler and the fact that I can upgrade shocks to what I want isn't a issue.

What are some pros and cons for both?

In addition, I'm also torn between the 155" and the 163" tracks. I'm running a 159" track now and am a bit apprehensive about going longer for the boondocking, but at the same time, I'm skeptical about going shorter and loosing on traction/flotation as well.

Any input would be great. Thx!

it doesnt matter just buy one!:D

I plan on it, just wanna make sure mine has 1 more little extra than yours to 1 up ya... :D
How's the Montana POW? Left you a phone message a week or so ago about riding in March.

the pro also gets a better brake package(supposed to be better), a light weight jackshaft, and a few other little things ...as to which one...163..they will be so much more flickable then your current sled..and the 163 is a deep pow /climbing /sidehilling demon ....

For the little bit more it costs I would get a PRO RMK vs the standard. Also I love my 163....I wouldnt go back to a 155.

It's not a cost issue, I just want to get the sled that best suits my riding style and needs. Throw a few mods on it...vents, can, better boards, clutching, etc. and then just ride it.

I'm tired of always wrenching on this 700. I love it, but at 4K miles, I'm tired of putting money into it.

My dad has the standard RMK and his friend has the pro I plan on snow checking one this spring. but as for advice either way you decide to go you will (should) never quit grinning from ear to ear. I love my dads standard with the 155 he came off of a 03 vert escape 159. from what you have now it will go through trees with just you thinking about which way to turn. but as length goes if you go 155 you won't regret it but i can't speak for a 163 because I personally have never ridden one.

I have a 155 and I'd pretty much advise everyone other then jumpers to get the 163 in the PRO version. Sled handles with absolute ease especially if you are coming from the bone stock IQ or even an edge. They are an absolute joy to have all day in the backcountry. I think the longer track and better flotation of the 163 makes it the choice for 90% of the riders. Totally opposite to how I've ever felt or recommended up to this sled.

Fellow Wa. guy here. I went with the 155 because I do some jumping and like that added flickability of it. My dad went with the 163 "because I am getting old" as he put it. I love both, and the 163 PRO is way more maneuverable than my 155 dragon was, thats why I had to buy a PRO after I rode it!
You can't go wrong with either sled, but I say get the PRO over the standard version in either track.

My friend has a 155 pro, I have a 163 pro. He weighs approx 30 lbs less than me, but any time we seem to compare climbing, the 163 outdoes it.

have been riding 160ish sleds for the last 8 years. i live in the trees, could care less about the trail handling or which sled gets the highest mark on the hill. only thing that concerns me is how it handles while spending the day miles from the nearest road. have one buddie with the 163, several with the 155. at 431 dry unless your a burley 250 pound plus guy i have seen no advantage to having the 163. in 4 foot of fresh he wasn't going any further than the rest. have rode both in the trees and the 155 is just a little easier to manipulate and get to turn in those tight areas. the way this sled floats for the type of riding i do the 155 has the advantage. with a heavier sled have seen the exact opposite, go figure...

Let me just say, as one of my favorite riding buddies, you suck! Lol So jealous. I knew you weren't far from one though. Having gotten that off my chest, I'd say with your weight, riding aggression, and the extra weight a 163 packed with snow that I have to lift if you get stuck would weigh, get a 155" pro. It's less than four inches longer anyway. And pro, because you can. Woohoo! :cheer2:
