Alright thank you for the input, what kit would tbe a good starting kit to base everything off of?Your not going to find a factory fit kit for a bike that old or small. However…any decent machine shop can make up some spacers. Good luck!
Yeah it's for my son by all purpose I meant mainly trail riding but maybe jumping off the trail and doing some climbing or powder riding, I found a pretty good deal on a 250 so I think I'll get that and get the kit for iyI assume it's for a kid? And what is your idea of all purpose riding? The 80 might be ok for a kid in hard snow in flat terrain. The timbersled ripper was made for those smaller bikes but it won't be a mountain machine. If it's for a teenager in the mountains don't bother with the 80 just try to find a deal on a rmz with an old ts. They are dirt cheap and work good.
I think I will do that because my son isnt very tall and I remember how embarrassed I was when I was kid an couldn't touch the ground on a 250, thanksIf you get a Timbersled kit, old or not so old, don't be afraid to have the shocks rebuilt to a shorter length and then do some cutting on the spindle to make it a "S" kit. For the vertically challenged, it does a lot for the self esteem if you can get the darn thing out of the parking lot without falling over. Just a thought.
