RKT Secondary on 09 m1000

I got a brand new never out of the box secondary/tortional kit for stupid dirt cheap. It has a 38/36 helix which is notched for reverse. It too me a bit but I got it dialed in perfect last weekend. Only 1 problem when I tried reverse nothing but grinding and it sounded like it was full of rocks!! Is this because the tortion on the spring wont let it seat in the notch? Anybody have a fix for this? I set it up as per specs from RKT and I thought I would ask on the forums before phoning RKTech. Anyone have the phone #. Thanks in advance.......
 
That's how mine worked too....tried several options, the final one pulled the belt into the helix and trimmed the cogs off.

i have a cutler red/white that seems to be working ok with it now but had the same problems.

i hate putting it in reverse because its 50/50 on whether it will work or not.

I run the same red white cutler also. I use the ovs secondary kit on my m7-900 and it works awesome, but it has no reverse red white cutler on it also. The rkt really woke up this 1000 and it is well worth the sacrifice of not having reverse. Oh well I had 1 season with reverse anyways.
 
I was under the impression that there was an updated version of the RKT secondary kit, which solved the problem with the 09 reverse. Can anyone confirm or deny that...I have an 09 Crossfire and would be very interested in the RKT kit if it works in reverse. Not 50/50, I would rather go without!
 
Mine was supposed to be the updated, corrected reverse for the 09. It was one out of ten, not 50/50.
 
I officially gave up reverse and am going to stick with this RKT kit for next season. When soemthing better comes along Ill grab it. For now Ill start workin out a lil to boost my strength manual reverse once in awhile is not to bad. Always wanted a reason to hit the weights so I could kick some sand into a bullies face...............
 
I heard the same thing. The kit was fixed for 09.
Does anyone have one of these kits thats works in reverse?
I would agree, going forward is a little more important! And the reviews on this direction have been more good than bad.
 
Does that mean that the CPC kit using the Dalton helix will work in the 09 and the reverse will work also?

Yes it does work. I was lucky enough to go on a test ride this afternoon with Dale and Derik on the '09 and '10 TM8's and the 1300cc. All three of the machines reverses worked perfect!:D

The trick to making the reverse work is balancing the amount of torsion the spring has vs the compression force. Dale had a new pre-production spring that made the clutching spot on, both forward and reverse!:beer; Very fun to ride! VERY VERY FUN!!!!:eek:

The 2010 TM8 is very very impressive on 7.5#s of boost!:eek: And was equal to or faster than the '09 TM8 on 11#s.:cool: It revs soooo much faster, It's really noticeably faster!:D
 
OVS does, I have an 09 m1000 with an OVS secondary works fine!

I have never heard of OVS...what does that stand for? Also do you have contact info for them?

So it sounds like if you want reverse to work we have two options: 1. CPC and 2. OVS, is there any others that work that I am missing?
