RK TEk dropins on 800r

If it is anything like the 06 800 powertek motor it is awesome. We did it on the 06 and love it. Basically no tinkering, we changed the wieghts in the clutch (kelsey will send you a sheet with his recomendations) and installed quick clickers and the sled is a whole new machine, It trades marks with my dads xp if that means anything to you, so i'm sure on the already higher HP 800r it would really dominate

RK tech 800R blowing up snowmobiles in CO

I put one of Kelsey's 800 kits in my '07 rev. Within 50 miles it blew my machine up. THis happened first week in Jan '08; and I am still waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Kelsey will not return phone calls and I think the kits are junk. Kelsey is a punk.

Blew my engine in less than 20 miles with his drop in kit .I think my buddy got about 100 miles before his blew. Do not waste your time with this junk. It is not a drop in kit and go. Lots of tinkering and 350-370 jets at altitude? Are you fricking on drugs?Let me guess, he blamed everybody else but himself?

we think that his new piston are too tight in the bore and he does want to tell you you have to send out your cylinders and have them fit for a .006 -.008 tollerance????????????and then some extra oil in the fuel!!!!. how many of you are a 4 corner stick??

Wow.....

I have his drop in kit and head on my 02.....works awesome....this is my second season with this kit:). Sorry to hear about your sled, sucks not haveing your sled running:mad:. Kelsey always returned all my calls. I found that at 4000-6000 feet, where I usually ride, 370 mains were as low as I wanted to go, started out at 400 and worked my way down. Dino

400 miles on my 06 locator pin took out cylinder last week . Does one dare try again with his pistons, or put stock piston back in? Will stock piston work with his head from the drop in kit ? HV

No king pinhead thats why he said it blew the first time I have'nt got ahold of him for the second engine with the new rings why dont you read before activating finger.rolleyes .

try posting more clear and methodical. You did your first post just asking an innocent question.
"Has anyone tried the dropin kit on the 800r could you please post your results. "

Next post you go all psycho about flying out to ID.

"Thankyou for your honesty I am so stupid I believed him twice blew my first engine with his garbage then after about a month I got a hold of him and fell for his B.S.again I now did in my new short block with his crap after one ride I'm such a sucker .he's now hiding from the phone again.A flight to Idaho isn;t that expensive about the cost of the kit and alot more satisfying. "

Why not state the problem your having right out straight. What was type of failure(s) did you have, show some pictures, describe the failure, altitude, type of fuel, etc, etc. The more details, the more people might actually be able to help you.

No need to name call, but I'm your huckleberry if you want go that route.

I have an 06 800X 159" Was running 400 main put needle back to stock seemed to rich when raised even .02 of an inch. . Locator pin on PTO side came out gouged cylinder bad, wash looked good on both pistons. But on PTO side it also had a little sign of detonating. It happened at the end of the day going 50-60 mph down trail 5-6 miles .Getting used jug for $250 and Kelsey sent new pistons , but getting gun shy with all I have been reading on other peoples luck with this kit. I thinking EGT's are a must ! Anyone running 07 needles ?I read about an update of ECM for mid range problem , but dealer don't know anything. Nick

Maybe you all should have went with the 827 kit. Put it on my 06 this year and it rips hard. Also, Kelsey was quick to return calls, if not I emailed and had a response w/in a day or two, he's been great to deal with. He's a busy guy, so like Kingpin said, No name calling!

When you change jetting from suppliers recomendations and THEN have problems...its really hard to blame him/anyone for a midrange DETO now is it???

As for running stock pistons with drop in head...not possible...different dome.

Are stock pistons better??? I have fixed way more STOCK engines than any trail mod version hands down...NO comparrison...including pins coming out...BJ

FYI- I know of a perf shop that installs a single pin straight down from the dome for ring alignment....they say its bullet proof vs stock pressed in pins...at $50 a piston its cheaper than 1 pin failure...I will be looking into this mod for next season...

I did the drop in kit with exact recommendations as Kelsey recommended on two 04 summit x sleds. Had over 1000 miles and ran as strong as the day I put it in. Both kits performed very well, this was on 04 model. We rode em like we stole em.

Sorry to hear of problems but as John said I would run exactly as specified including the stock can until he says otherwise.
