Hello,

I still see there's nothing new on their website, despite January being half over, but just wondering if anyone has any "inside" info. on the 860 kit from RK Tek???

Thanks in advance,

Glen

Kit has been delayed due to lack of snow.. It must get tested in the harshest conditions in order for it to be proven.. So, until the conditions change, it is not going to be released to the public..

Since there has been some testing on the Pro Drop In Kit and the 860 is a very close cousin to the drop in kit.. I am confident that the kit is going to perform very well and make great power.. But there are other things to consider with the overbore vs. the drop in kit(stock bore) that simply have to be tested...

I wish we had a better Winter as well.. Bummer for sure!!

DROP IN KIT

Kelsey how do you know your drop in kit makes 15 h.p like you said on snowest?

Thanks for the info.............

Will you not be posting the documented gains that can be expected from this kit until it is ready for release???

Kelsey,is the drop in kit ready for sale?have you done low elevation testing on it?it is time for me to replace piston, but i dont want to go OEM due to the horrible clearance specs on these.are the drop in pistons cast or forged, are they tighter than OEM?

I am still finalizing the drop in kit set-ups.. Elevation will not be an issue, The piston is much better and I am working on the optimum head design to acheive the best performance without using a control box or having detonation..

The lousy Winter has really slowed up all the testing.. but we have some snow now, so, it should not be much longer..

There is a lot of snow here in Alaska so if you need a tester? Just saying

If you have a 2011 Pro, We could probably work something out!! We have it in our 2012 Pro and I do have a 2011 860 cylinder ready to rock.

Not meaning to be an *** but there is snow in north america, there has to be a way to get to it and test. You must have contacts that have snow and be able to find a way to put hrs on.

i am more interested in hte 858 big bore. Im just wondering how much of a gain you could get by punching it out such a minimal amount? are hte gains going to be from porting, head, and piston, rather than good old displacement? Would a guy send you his stock jugs or what do you do there?

We get over 30HP with our Ski Doo 60CC overbore.

The small displacement increase is only PART of the equation. Making HP is about increasing airflow and maximizing the 2 stroke's ENTIRE process.

But, just for grins... Let's add the 7.5% more displacement ALONE into the equation..
So 60cc/800cc = 7.5% more volume
So at 150HP x 7.5% = 11.25 So, the cc's alone CAN/MAY add 11HP or so..

But again, it is much more complicated that that..

1) Increased Airflow, due to better flowing ports.. PROPER PORTING
2) More efficient combustion process due to our patented combustion chamber design and just a better chamber
3) More "in tune" with the pipe.. this always makes power
4) Increased RPM of the engine.. HP = Torque X RPM/5252 So RPM is ALWAYS a player.. more RPM= MORE HP as long as torque is staying constant or increasing
5)MUCH better designed piston.. Stock pistons are .008" -.009" clearance with a lousy geometry.. So, if you did nothing but FIX the piston.. you wouldbe increasing peformance.

These are just a few contributors..
