Risers to how tall you are

i have a 2" and moved the steering post accounting for another 1-2"// its tall, but pretty agressve to fit my riding style, and im 5' 11"

I'm 6'3" and have a 2" riser on my M7. If I'm just cruising standing up I find myself wishing I had an extra inch or two, but when I'm off the trail, boondocking and hillclimbing, the 2" riser seems to be just fine.

raise the bar

There needs to be a standard of measurement when discussing the amount of rise. With bars themselves being flat or raised, the riser amounts are inconsistent. Any measuring of rise should be from the steering post to the handgrips, where the "added rise," is calculated before and after the swap. This post is a little confusing when folks at 6'3" claim a 2" rise and others at 5'10" state an 8" rise.

I'm 6" over stock on a 05 summit 1000. i went with Smitty's Speed Works 10" riser and RSI 2" rise chromoly bars. In addition, the flat post to tee conversion mount is 3/4" rise. From the steering post to my grips is 12.75". I am 6' and fits perfect!

You should be able to stand on your boards at the footwells.... with your arms at your sides.....then raise up your hands a few degrees til they are about the level of your jewels. Thats where your grips should be.

That way you're not leaning over to grab the bars and you have plenty of leg travel to flex your knees on the bumps and your forearms will never have to go above 90 degrees to your body.

hmmm...I guess my jewels must swing a lil lower than yours they're already level with my hands with both at full droop.
I must have really short arms:rolleyes:

I am 6-5 also. Since we cannot get too crazy with bar height it comes down to trying to get them tall enough to be functional. This means, for me that I want to be able to stand up completely straight and still have my elbows bent a little.

Stand on the sled in the position that you want to be able to ride in and measure what you need. You have to think in terms of how high your wrists are from the ground not how high your head is. I have long arms and so don't need as ridiculous of a rise as it might seem. 3-4 inches gets my XP good. I only need +3/4 on my golf clubs. But in either case that extra height is SUPER important.

tall

I'm 6'5", run 8" Fly risers and 2" Fly motocross bars on my XLT. Love it. Bars are a bit wide, but I manage.

Just watched the video "Schooled", they say no to risers and left-handed throttles. Surprised me, and those guys can ride like there's no tomorrow....hmmmm?

I noticed when Bret said to drop the Cat adjustable riser all the way in too. His explanation as why that is a better approach made sense to me yesterday when I made a side by side comparison. I have a 5.25" Polaris riser on my 07 D7, my wifes 2010 600 RMK has the factory 3.75" riser. Yesterday when riding her sled, I found that it is easier to pull her sled around when carving, but being 6'3" I need the extra height of the 5.25" riser so I can ride standing erect. An adjustable Rox riser might might be in my future.

I agree with the lefty, never seen the need, never been left behind by someone that had one. Being 6'2" though, I need a riser or my back hurts from bending over to ride standing up. I think it is smart to keep it to a minimum though. Excessively tall bars can lead to a broken post and no way to ride out. 4 inches, stock bars, M7 works for me.

8" stock with 3.5" Rox Riser Equaling 11.5" total. I'm 6'3" . Don't care what a pro says, when your leaning over all day reaching for the bars you get a really sore body, Not for me.

I'm 6 foot and on my 2002 ZX Renegade I'm running about 11.75" of rise from the mounting plate (something like 8.something over stock). It breaks down into a Powermadd Pivot Adapter (1.25"), 7" RSI riser and RSI backcountry bars (approx. 3.5"). Perfect height for me.
