I'm sure you'll get some red apples coming your way...and not just the thumbs down kind...but the other kind...the kind with weight.

Why would he get red rep for that? He stated what he feels. A little strong but red apples?
One thing about Joe he now has to answer to a much higher authority than he ever would have had to had he lived. He may have been a great coach and did great for Penn state but this is what he will be remembered for now. Maybe he reported what he knew to higher ups and he felt that was enough but when nothing came to light he should have pursued it even more. To know something like this was happening and not wonder why the man was still around after Paterno brought it to someones attention. Come on does that scream good man to you? It sure don't to me.

Wrong. Not true.

Did he do ENOUGH? Maybe or maybe not...and that will be debated.
But to say he did nothing isn't true...and its spreading untruth.

I'll put it in terms and context for what I know.
In my profession, as are many other people, I am a "mandatory reporter" who is required by law to report any suspected child abuse. Once a report is made, I an not allowed to know any further status of that report.

I don't know the protocal and chain of command for Joe Paterno's employment, but to say the guy is better off DEAD? I think THAT is beyond harsh.

That's like saying that the death penalty should be imposed on someone who reported a crime, but didn't see the result of the report.

Should be dead because of it?

I'm sure Sandusky won't be sent to the gallows...but Joe should be dead though?

Something just seems out of perspective.

Child abuse is a very serious, and ugly part of this world. It is awful that such a good man's legacy was tainted severely by another monster's (Jerry Sandusky) despicable actions! He self-admittedly did not do enough to bring Sandusky to punishment. RIP Joe Pa![/COLOR]

If you plan to argue this issue, you had better know your facts in regard to it! You and Jizz sound a lot like the lib media who spew and twist facts to rile people and make the biggest splash in the pond as possible. Sandusky is a freak, and I won't even say here what I believe should be done to this SOB, but trust me, it would not be good for him!! As I said in my initial post, I have admired and studied Joe Paterno's life over many years. I believe he was a great coach, and a good man! His legacy will be tainted from this mess, and he admitted his wrong doing by not pushing the issue hard enough with his BOSSES!!! The university hushed the issue!

Now, to say that it is good he is dead....what kind of an insensitive SOB says something like that on an open forum!!!???

So what if he admitted he did not do enough. The point is he did not do enough to stop Sandusky which I agree is a puke. All Paternos good things he supposedly did in his life, does not in my opinion give him a pass on this. I am not a liberal as you say. If I was I would be saying, Oh he was such a good man and an outstanding coach, let's just give him a pass and build a shrine in this great man's memory.

You say you're a father. Here is a scenario for you. Your best friend is repeatedly raping your 10 yr old son. Your Brother has knowledge of this because his best friend told him your best friend was doing it to your son. He saw it happen. Your brother tells your best friends wife this is happening and she does nothing about it, and your brother says no more while your son continues to be raped. Are you going to sit here and tell me you would forgive your brother because he is a good man and a great snowmobiler?

If you will read what I said....I am talking about what Jizz said about, "good he is dead!" I should have quoted him. Sorry!

I am not saying you ARE a lib, I am saying you are making statements based on partial truths, or untruths, which I believe all media has a tendency to do! Did I say anywhere, "build him a shrine!?" I said, it is a sad day for college football, that he is dead! You are the one, along with a couple others, who took it to him being a bad person, not worthy of me saying it is a sad day that he has died. You are the one who is saying he will now report to a Higher Authority, which I believe you are correct.....and I also believe that Higher Authority knows much more about the situation and how to judge it correctly than either of us! I choose to leave that up to Him!

Once again, IT IS A SAD DAY FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL with the passing of a legendary coach....the same 85 year old coach who was fired over the phone by the powers that be with the university to try to save their own asses!!!!

Trust me....I know what you are trying to say! This is not the time and place for me to go into my feelings, beliefs, and experiences in life with child abuse. I believe it to be the worst part of our society!!!

As for someone messing with my children...I know enough...there are things worse than death! Put the SOB in a very thick cell...not to keep him in, but to keep me out!!! As for Joe Paterno, you do not know all of the facts, and neither do I! I do look at it this way, which is not giving blanket forgiveness, a free pass, or anything else... just how I feel...

Wow, that's sad.

No what's sad is he put his football program, ahead of the safety and well being of kids being molested in fear, that it would bring down his whole football program, which eventually happened anyway once the cat was out of the bag. He was a helluva coach, but a terrible charactar of judgement. Just my .02

although i may not have wished death to him, if i knew someone in a program i was running was doing anything even remotely to what sandusky was doing he would not only be removed instantly he would be lucky to leave with his life!!! VERY LUCKY. sorry folks but simply reporting something like this to higher ups is not an excuse for letting it continue to happen, sometimes you have to take things into your own hands. sometimes doing what is right is more important!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so flame on me all you want, there is no excuse for not putting an end to this as soon as he found out, period.
