Riot fixed strut drive chain tension

I am a little confused by my manual and hoping somebody can help me out. With the fixed strut is the measurement supposed to be taken with the track on flat ground or suspended? Also. It seems like a typo. Is the deflection supposed to be between 1/4 and 3/4 of an inch or 3/4 and 1 and 1/4 of an inch? Never had a fixed strut before. Thanks.

Riot track tension will be like all the other TS kits, loose until it ratchets, then tighten in small increments until it doesn't ratchet. I have not ridden my kit yet so I don't know yet where it going to be............but always looser the better. Strut length, again an experiment with a new set up, but if the track sits nice and level on the floor its going to work, question is how much better is it going to work a turn longer or shorts, we shall see.

Thanks for the reply. I reread my post and didn’t make it clear. I actually was talking about the chain tension. I’m sure you’re right about the track. I measured the track tension the way TS instructed and have about an inch. Seems too tight but they state 3/4 to 1 inch in the manual. The drive to chain tension is what is confusing me. I remember it was also listed on my installation instructions but for some reason I cannot find my instructions anymore.

3/4 to 1-1/4 sounds like a lot... I always ran them pretty damn tight with the fixed strut as its not moving, I would imagine the Riot would be the same as previous generations. When its too loose it seemed like there was that slight delay and then the power snapped on. Rather when tighter, get on it and it smoothly takes the power. Just my thoughts ?‍♂️

That’s about what I ended up at. Set it at 1/2” and it stretched to about 5/8 after a couple rides. Only about a half a tank of gas each ride though. Rode with my buddy on his new 3 inch kit on Sunday. Halfway through that ride his chain had stretched a ton! The 3 inch was impressive. Conditions were 3 to 4 feet of blower on top of a foot of sugar so neither kit did very well obviously. Pretty impressed with the riot. Wow! That's an impressive amount of snow! Cool to start seeing ride reports of other Riot owners, hoping to finish mine up this weekend and get out Sunday on a shake down ride.

It was an impressive storm cycle. We went from nothing to something in a couple days. We need a lot more though!
