Riding Pics 2009-04-06

As usual, beautiful clear AWESOME pics! :)

I see in the duke1n school they teach you the correct way to wear your visor! :p

Notice here with my visor is up, I have a clear unobstructed view of my target landing area. I am leveled out in good form preparing myself for a feathery touchdown and the the associated glory and accolades that are sure to come my way.

Here on the other hand we see Ike's visor is down in the low rider position. This glaring obstruction has caused him to lose visual contact with the runway putting him in full IFR approach mode. As you can see he has lost all bearing and is about to have a most unfortunate and forgettable experience.

The choice is clear kiddies. Ride blindly with your visors down in dork mode and suffer the consequences or point them up to the sky like the cool kids do and become a snow hero!

If all it takes is having your visor up, look out! I'll be an instant hero. The sad part about the IFR statement is that I am an ATP rated pilot with 4,000 hrs. and 10 years of flying under my belt. I should have been able to cope with the reduced visibilty takeoff no problem:rolleyes:Oh well, live to fight another day!

LOL I knew I saw some professional pilot in you Ike. No way a mortal man even got that back on the ground without wadding it up in a ball of flames. That's pretty cool what planes do you fly?

I never flew anything too spectacular. I started out flying skydivers in Southern California then went on to do a little freight work at night, some air ambulance in a King Air 90, a little charter, some pipeline flying(that was the most fun! Giddyup!)and spent my last eight years(I quit flying in '01) flying for a large construction company. The company had a Gulstream 840 Commander when I started on in '93. In '95 we bought another company that had a Beech Super King Air 200, so we inherited it and sold the 840. I miss it every once and awhile. My wife is a pilot for United on the 737-right seat. That's why i'm not free on the weekends; for the sake of our kids my wife fly's Fri-Sat-Sun so I have take care of the kidos on the weekends. Forgive the red-eye in the pics!

That is really cool Ike. How did she land that job? Air Force? "Whats your mommy do? Oh she flies jets..."

No Air Force. We both went to Cochise College in Arizona. It is a Jr. College with a flight program. She got her ratings and worked as a flight instructor for 3 years, before going to work for Mesa Airlines. At the time in '94, she was the youngest Captain Mesa ever had-she just turned 24! In '95 she got hired at America West and flew the Airbus there until getting hired at United in '98. Getting back to the instructor thingy-she was MY instructor for a few months!!! She wouldn't give me a lunch date until I got switched to a new instructor. No worries though, she was worth the wait:beer;
