Looking for some riding areas. A large group of us are headed over in a week for a weekend at the Arrowpoint resort, back side of the lake. Anyone know of some good, close, riding areas somewhat family friendly:(, but fun for us guys too??:face-icon-small-win

go to the top of 4th of july pass, big parking lot on the north side of the freeway, lots of groomed trails and a warming hut (if you know how to get there) trails were bumpy last time i was up there, but should be better now! good luck

From what I have heard, 4th of July pass gets crazy buisy. Is there anything else in the area behind the lake?;) Also we are loosing snow by the feet:mad:, whats the snow situation like over there, I hope your all not getting the same mother nature treatment were getting here!!!:mad:

THere isnt much near the back of the lake but there is all kinds of riding east on 90. 4th o July. Kingston/Bloom Peak. Big Creek. Wallace. Burke. Mullan/Lookout. HooDoos. Or you can head north. Priest. Pack River. RomanNose. Smith Creek. Trestle Crek

Area's to ride

They just groomed from mullan to the warming hut in Mt.Tons of riding on the way.You can ride trail ride 12 miles to the warming hut and 6 more to the Montana bar,or 5 or so more to 50k bar and cafe.It snowed all day yesterday at lookout and lots of powder if thats what you like.Doc

from arrow point its a coin toss either south to st maries or east to lookout area..........bout the same distance.......similar stuff. be seriously aware that we are in maxi avy mode around here and there is areason most of the big stuff is not all marked up.........it ain't cause we don't ride.........

from Arrowpoint there are ways on to couer dalene mountain. Once on there there are alot of logging roads. Low elevation and not a lot of climbing but alot of riding. You can access 4th of july from cda mountain.
4th of july gets busy on weekends.

Gozzer Ranch? Whrere might that be? Also are there any restrictions to riding on the roads, special tabs? Sorry for these sort of questions, but its my first snowmobile trip to your area and I want to enjoy every minute riding:D

My recommendation: Drive east to Mullan. Get off on the east mullan exit, turn left. (going across freeway) Turn right @ stop sign..drive up about 3-4 miles until you hit a Y. Turn left at the Y...head another 3-4 miles and now stay to right past 1st road/driveway...next Y stay to the right and this will take you to the trailhead. You can look @ mapquest or google maps and see exactly what I'm talking about for directions.

DOC mentioned above the conditions of the area. (He's the best knowledge we have...he leaves right there :D)

This area will have trails for the 1st 6 miles to the top of the saddle. On the way down the backside of the saddle towards the warming hut in Montana there are tons of play areas. Nothing insane or crazy. But a chance for playing and the non-players can watch from the trail. Ride to the warming hut another 8 miles roughly and hang out with some cool folks and most anyone will show you around. Just rode this exact area today and snow conditions were far better than expected. Parking is easy for any setup.
